DAHUA IPC-HDW5231R-Z with QNAP Surveillance Station?

I started to look at the Dahua DVRs and then I thought to myself: I'm way over-thinking this and I don't need any more boxes. I will just rely on emails and push notifications from my cameras that I can then track back on my 24/7 recordings. And maybe if I schedule enough tech support sessions...

DAHUA IPC-HDW5231R-Z with QNAP Surveillance Station?

I have pretty much the same history, saw the reviews of the IPC-HDW5231R-Z, have a QNAP TS-653A and SS, and wanted to combine their forces. And similar to @johnnyletrois, I don't want another computer running if I can help it. Anyway, spent the morning with QNAP tech support and as above, do not...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

An email rule makes sense! Will try that too as I vet everything. Did you use the Dahua DNS service for the app?

I don't recall seeing those in the setup menu. Can you direct me?

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I am curious what is the purpose of the "Tripwire Stop" emails I get after the substantive tripwire email is sent. Kind of annoying to get an email with the exact same time stamp with no useful content. Is there any way to turn that particular notification off?

Safari Plug-In Failure when IVS Smart Plan Activated

Haha, the one thing I can't do through the browser easily ... Has anyone emailed Dahua tech support re the plug-in issue?

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Thanks for the feedback. The first thing I did was update the firmware per the link on the first page (which has been an awesome resource!). I have been experimenting with BLC during the daylight hours and it does seem to help with dark shadows. The scene looks a little less "real", but is...

Safari Plug-In Failure when IVS Smart Plan Activated

I am playing around with SmartPSS, but I can't figure out how to actually add the tripwires and such. There does not seem to be a Live View within the "Event Config" tab. Would sure be nice if the GUI for SmartPSS matched the web version. When I look under "Device Config" and in the "Events"...

Safari Plug-In Failure when IVS Smart Plan Activated

I noticed today that when I activate Smart Plan -> IVS, the "Live View" tab will report a plug-in failure within seconds. Everything still works fine in terms of my NAS's ability to record the camera, but very annoyingly I cannot access any live view anymore (e.g., to set IVS rules). I have...

how do you set up IVS on a Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-Z?

I'm not sure I understand what the "Smart Plan" settings are. Why are they separate from IVS and Face Detection, yet make mention of both of them? Is one area just for setting parameters for IVS and Face Detection and the other for actually enabling the functionality?

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

@triumph202 - I have found that I'm getting some over-exposure with the IRs. Picture attached for reference. I have just set these cameras up so it is entirely possible that they are not configured optimally just yet. Unrelated, but are there advantages to running H.265 compression? Seems a...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I bought three of the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Zs from @EMPIRETECANDY (thank you!) and I'm very impressed with their performance. One thing, though, is that in all cases I am using the camera at minimum zoom, which introduces some pretty serious rounding at the edges. I am wondering then if there is a...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Crap. I just bought a new Ubiquiti managed switch, but it's 24V. I can run 48V from my Edge Router. I'll try that now.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Sorry for stupid question, but I have to select either 24 or 48V for my PoE and not sure which to select since the wired power is 12.
