Recommend Server off Ebay to run Blue Iris and Plex media server in seperate VM's?

I just configured my core i5 8400 with Blue Iris. Wow!! this is much, much better than my gen 3 core i5. The CPU usage percentage is around half of the old one. And it's using around 15 watts less right now. 40 watts vs. 55 watts. I

    Will this run BI

Yes that CPU is rated for 130 watts. While a newer cpu like a core i5 8400 is rated at 65 watts and is genrally more powerful too.

    New PC for BI recommendation

The Acer only has 4GB of memory. Plus it comes with 16GB of Optane storage. Which is a waste if you are going to install an SSD. Plus Optane storage is slow and expensive compared to an M2 NVMe drive. I got a cheaper M2 NVME 250GB drive for my new BI PC. And it is two to three times as fast as...

Recommend Server off Ebay to run Blue Iris and Plex media server in seperate VM's?

Just keep the PLEX and BI server separate. It certainly makes thing simpler. I'm in the process of upgrading my old Gen 3 Core i5 PCs to 8th Gen Core i5 PCs. I am keeping my BI machine by itself with the 8th Gen Core i5. And am setting up a dedicated Plex server with another 8th Gen Core i5...

    Hard drive strategy

I just run my thirteen cameras to a 1TB SSD. And then I have a secondary 500GB SSD that the files get pushed to when the 1TB gets full. This has worked very well for the last five years with my third gen core i5 BI machine. I'm setting up a new machine with an 8th gen core i5. But this one will...

Anyone running 8th gen Intel without memory leak problems in Blue Iris?

Wow!! I saw this thread and got a little scared. This week I decided to upgrade my 3rd gen core i5 machine to an 8th gen core i5 8400. But I guess I picked the right time since the fix came in a few weeks ago. I picked up an open box Dell 3670 for $460 with 12GB of memory. And then I got a...

I was also getting this error when the UI3 files were in a different directory.

    Blue Iris UI3

Thanks. That's what I just found a a minute ago. That the it put the files in sub directory instead of a level up. So now it is working. Thanks.

I checked and everything is the same. I also have the ui3.htm file and the default.htm file as well.

    Blue Iris UI3

I just updated to this version and I can't get the web UI to show up. I tried entering the info from the first post, but it didn't work from any browser on several PCs. Even the PC running BI4 didn't work with the info from the first post. Prior to the update it worked fine using the same info...

Is a USB3 drive as good as directly installing one?

I've been recording to SSDs with BI for many years. I only have SSDs in my BI machine. A 1TB and a 500GB. I've had zero issues reading/writing to them 24/7/365, the last few years with my fourteen cameras. The Samsung software reports that they are in still great shape.

Does blue iris have hidden batch camera configuration?

I just save the BI camera configuration file. Then import it to to the new camera. Then I just need to change the IP address and name for the new camera. While all the other settings are the same. Much quicker than manually setting everything up from scratch for each camera. from the BI manual

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

hmm... that was weird. For some reason after BI updated the webpage with ui2.htm had all the left info minimized. I just needed to move the slider to the right to see it.

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Did something happen with the recent BI update? After mine updated I longer show the list of clips on the left. All it shows on the webpage are all my cameras. EDIT: hmm... it's showing up properly in the EDGE browser but not in Chrome.

Clips and Archiving: how to best use the folder structure

I do have them named. But I couldn't tell you where each one is located without looking at a list. Since they just have something like Hik1, Hik2, Hik4MP_1 etc.(for my Hikvision cameras)

Clips and Archiving: how to best use the folder structure

No it doesn't need to be managed regularly but at some point I would need to remember which cameras go to which drives.

Clips and Archiving: how to best use the folder structure

I think it's easier to manage everything going to one drive. I use SSDs for my main and secondary drives, so transferring isn't an issue since the SSDs exceed 4Gb/s transfer rates.. So all 15 cameras go to the new folder in my 1TB SSD which also has the OS, clips etc. Then they get pushed to a...

BI aspect ratio appears to be 640x480?

That's a 4:3 Aspect ratio. My 3MP Hikvisions have a 4:3 aspect ratio with it's 2048 x 1536 resolution. But with those they also have a 16:9 aspect ration option where the resolution drops to 1920x1080.

Bit rate on BI far less than camera settings?

Those bitrates you list in BI are in the range you list. They are just in Kilo Bytes per second instead of Kilobits per second. So the 1254 kB/s bitrate is 10032 kb/s (10.032 Mb/s). The 1271 kB/s is 10168 kb/s (10.168 Mb/s). And the 942 kB/s bitrate is 7536 kb/s (7.536 Mb/s).

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

I'm glad I ran into this thread recently. I activated the HA with my cameras in BI few weeks ago. This provided a welcome reduction in CPU usage with my Corei5 running BI with Windows 10. I can't believe I went this long without enabling the HA. doH!!

    many cameras accessing same hd

I had issues when I used a platter drive for initial storage after I exceeded a certain number of cameras. BI folders and the OS was still located on a small SSD, but the main storage folder was on a platter drive. Everything worked fine but there would sometimes be a delay when accessing the...

    5.4.5 Network Disconnected Exceptions

I use a bunch of the old Dlink DAP1522 APs in bridge mode(they have four GigE ports). I used to use them as Access Points a long time ago, but replaced them with Asus routers running in AP mode. The DAP1522s have no problem using 150Mb/s throughput over a wireless N 5Ghz connection. So the lower...

    many cameras accessing same hd

Use an SSD for your initial storage location and use the NAS to offload from the SSD when it gets full. In my BI setup with a corei5, I use a 1TB SSD for the OS with 720GB reserved for BI storage. Then that is offloaded to a 500GB SSD and when that gets full it is offloaded to a platter drive...

    5.4.5 Network Disconnected Exceptions

Both of mine are connected to wireless Bridges(along with my 3MP versions). And they use 5Ghz wifi. Since the cameras only use 2.4Ghz. I'm going to be getting a third 4MP one soon.

    5.4.5 Network Disconnected Exceptions

I just picked up one of these last weekend with a second one on the way. I guess this is why it showed once as disconnected, before I had added it to Blue Iris. Since I've had it connected to Blue Iris I have not seen any issues.

android app on local units "blue iris has stopped"

I guess I need to try this. Since the last app update I've had the crashing issue with my three tablets running Android 6.0.x(Two Nexus 7(2013) and a Tabs S 10.5. But my old Galaxy 6 running Android 7.0.x and my Galaxy S8 also running Android 7.0.x has never had any issues. And I know most of my...

Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't do anything. The BI app behaves the same way. It crashes right after opening. The previous version had no issues. Its the most recent version where these issues started.
