    I installed that firmware two weeks ago. I thought it might have fixed my problems but after two weeks it just dropped its network connection like it always does after a week or so. Three different firmware updates haven't fixed my problems. I think the hardware is just junk.

    I'm considering getting a HDW4233 ($66) but I don't understand why it is so much cheaper than the HDW4231 ($135). The HDW4233 has seemingly better low light performance of 0.002Lux vs 0.009Lux of the HDW4231. Why is the seemingly inferior model much more expensive? What am I missing here?

    @Bryan Could you post a color night/low light (no IR) comparison? According to the Dahua website, the HDW4233 has a minimum illumination of 0.002 and the HDW4431 has a minimum illumination of 0.01.
