How-to Guide - Using a Cheap wireless Driveway sensor & Raspberry Pi to trigger BI

This is how I got a cheap wireless PIR driveway monitor to trigger Blue Iris. I’ve been using BI with a Hikvision DS-2CD2032 but had issues with motion detection not working when my car is parked as it mostly masks the path covered by people coming to the front door. When I made it more...

When I try to use this on my 10.9 Mac I just get 'Unrecognized server!' when trying to connect. The url is correct and works fine in a browser from the same Mac. Any suggestions ? Edit - I've done a network sniff and I can see that the Java program is successfully getting the jpegpull.htm so...

Powerline adapter with multiple ports - Is local traffic local ?

If I used a 600 Mb powerline adapter which had 4 x gigabit ethernet ports and connected a Pc and NAS to 2 of those ports, would the traffic between the Pc and NAS be gigabit, or would it do dumb routing and throttle me down to the powerline speeds ?

Playback on another Pc at full fps

Thanks for confirming it should be fast. The camera, blue iris box, and viewing Pc are all on the same gigabit switch with only about 1m separating them while I'm playing with this. I'm confident its not the network as I've done test file transfers and tested all the cables. The issue could be...

Playback on another Pc at full fps

How can I view the clips on another Pc (Mac or Windows) at the full fps the clips were recorded at ? If I want to run Blue Iris on a server, then I'd like to be able to access the clips it records properly at full fps from another machine. The web viewer seems to be very low fps and I seem to...

Hammering cable clips into brick ?

Is there any trick to hammering cable clips into a brick wall as I seem to end up with loads of ruined nails. I'm assuming its going to be easier to hammer into the mortar between the brick but I seem to be left with a hole chipped out rather than the nail stuck in the wall :D

    Painting cameras ?

It seems most exterior cameras have a white housing, and the part of the garage I want to mount a camera on is black. I'm thinking of masking the front of the camera, and then use a decent spray paint for plastic on the camera. Are there any 'gotchas' I should be aware of ? This isn't to be...
