Hardware spec for a BI machine.

Yes! When I got my "new" BI machine, it came with a 1TB drive. It was slooowwww. I replaced it with a 400 GB SSD. Amazing difference. I wouldn't consider anything else now, for the OS and programs. Data files on a spinning platter is fine.

Hardware spec for a BI machine.

As @sebastiantombs says: The three basic rules of video surveillance cameras- Rule #1 - Cameras multiply like rabbits. Rule #2 - Cameras are more addictive than drugs. Rule #3 - You never have enough cameras. No drug addict ever thought they were going to get addicted either.... I'm running...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

The more I see of this fiasco the more I am convinced people are idiots. Saw a newspaper parroting that shots are more important than ever due to omicron variant. Seriously. I think of intelligence as the ability to think, not what you "know". So it doesn't matter if you never graduated from...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I like reading the comments. Now the comments on Twitter say but science changes as we learn more....Oh, like unvaccinated aren't the problem. Or that Omicron isn't deadly. Or, just maybe, the unvaxed aren't causing the virus to spread? Nahh, none of that could be true!!:facepalm:

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

Did you swipe our daughters?:lmao: We go out and she has her 6 yo kid put on a mask, then after 15 minutes, he takes it off, Mommy doesn't say a word. I think she decided the place we were at was "nice" enough. Let me guess, she is proud to have gotten the shot, the second, and a booster...

Cameras through windows. Temporary Ghetto Rental install.

If the windows open, figure some way to get a shelf that is held in by the window. Close the window down on a thing piece of metal or wood. Block any openings with foam and block the window from opening, since the lock will have to be disengaged. It will work fine and no damage. I have setup...

Yeah, this. I don't use any hardware acceleration, and have no issues.

REOLINK beta firmware allows Iframe adjusting to work in Blue Iris!!

The iFrame issue is only one of many reasons Reolink is not popular on here. As you get more experienced, with better cameras, you will discover a plethora of other issues. However, if you are satisfied with their performance, then great!

Cant get Deepstacks to recognize anything

I'm running with OUT a GPU. The i7-6700 has fine onboard video for BI. It does not use the GPU for DS, but otherwise works great. I think you need to focus on the basics. Make sure that BI is working, motion detection working, not going off every 15 seconds, which will murder you with DS...

Cant get Deepstacks to recognize anything

I'm using RDP to access mine. I run around 20% CPU with everything running on the same CPU, DS, ALPR and about 14 total cameras. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk

Cant get Deepstacks to recognize anything

If you have BI working properly, with motion detection working, and reasonable CPU utilization, and nothing else running on the machine, then reinstalling BI and Windows is overkill, IMO. If you do, make sure you do a 100% clean install from the media creation tool. And make sure you deactivate...

The YouTube User With 20.5 Million Subscribers Does It Again

While the early videos may have been partly staged, this guy is way past MythBusters. Their stuff looks like I built it in my basement compared to what he does - 3D printed structures, gas assisted top launcher, four phones for video, real time GPS tracking, the list goes on. Not to mention his...

Cant get Deepstacks to recognize anything

When I have issues with software, especially new to me software, I always try to install it once. With all defaults. With one camera. Remove it, reboot. STOP. Fix the FPS and key until you completely understand what @wittaj is talking about. After you get that sorted, then reinstall DS, reboot...

    Near Miss!

Prayers for your cat. The garbage truck, as @Captain_B said, was in the process of running that stop sign to beat the 18 wheeler coming, and your turn messed up his illegal plans. You were already in the turn lane, before he showed up, and it appears your blinker was on. Cleaning your undies is...

Looking for Video Editing Software - that features redaction of certain areas of video

For my very amateurish video editing of clips I use Kdenlive. I run it under Linux, but there are versions for Linux, Windows and Mac. It is supposedly very powerful, and free. I haven't tried to blur anything, but it sure seems like it does everything else I've thought of doing, and more...

Cant get Deepstacks to recognize anything

Memory is NOT your problem, assuming you meant 24 GB. My i7-6700 is running 16 GB, and ran fine with 8 GB before I added another stick. Heck, right now my BI says 1.63 GB being used, just sitting there...

Cant get Deepstacks to recognize anything

Yep! I'm running a 6th Gen, over a dozen 2 & 4 MP cameras, DeepStack, two cameras on ALPR, and my DS returns run about a second, unless I get a bunch of stuff happening at the same time. Of, and the PC is playing Spotify on a couple of outdoor speakers. :)

Is it worth the trouble using this

I'll be a little more optimistic than @bigredfish , but not much. If you want to tinker, and have something at the shop, then probably. Important word - "tinker". If you want any real security, hopes of identifying a perp, then no. Reality is that even with current technology, careful thought...

Advanced 2D and 3D settings causing grainy images?

While @wittaj 's recommended shutter is 8.33, that is a starting point. If you are not trying to catch sprinting deer, slow it way down, try 12 ms. I have a 2431 3.6 mm on deer duty and am running it at 12 ms. Yes, it will blue on some motion, but should reduce the grain a fair amount. I've...

    Rekor Scout Outage?

Depends. If you are part of the meth retailer & flop house at the other end of the block, no, I'm going to nail your ass. If not, then yeah, I'm focused on the drug dealers right now.

    Rekor Scout Outage?

The way I figured out it was down was when I checked the web interface, to confirm that it picked up a potential drug deal. I got a bad gateway response for a couple of hours. I checked the Rekor service, they were all running, checked my camera video, crystal clear plate in daylight...

    Rekor Scout Outage?

    Rekor Scout Outage?

That would be why I record my LPR camera, and all my cameras 24/7. If motion misses something, or something occurs outside my motion range, I still have it for a week or two. If a local ALPR option becomes available, I'll take it too!

    Rekor Scout Outage?

Yep. I thought it was my setup at first, went and checked, everything seems to be working, except them. Edit: It seems to be up now, 1:35 pm ET, with my first plate at 12:40 pm, but it missed one, at least, so maybe it is coming back up. Edit2: It may be related to the AWS issues that seem...

Dahua Camera's: How do I change Default Startup Parameters

I have had luck using Pale Moon 32 bit on Win10, and Brave (based on Chrome) on Linux Mint. The Brave on Linux works on almost everything, except for setting and reading one bit of data from a Dahua SD49225XA-HNR. As @wittaj says, IE under Win10 works every time, or almost every time - seems...

Trying to renew Blue Iris..no key
