Using sub-streams dropped CPU utilization down dramatically:

According to the wiki article concerning substreams here Sub Stream Guide, the substream should be the same frame rate as the main stream.

Using sub-streams dropped CPU utilization down dramatically:

I just found this out myself and must say I am very impressed at the dramatic drop in CPU usage by using substreams. My only concern is, since the substream does not have the level of detail as the main stream, is that somehow going to reduce Blue Iris's ability to detect movement in video...

I haven't yet. Trying to build a pattern of failures and self diagnosis at the moment. Getting close to that point, however.

    Unexpected shutdowns

Still fighting this problem. Has anyone figured this out yet? I tried older versions of BI and nothing has helped yet. I looked at all of my crashes from June 2020, and there is definitely a pattern. Here is a screenshot of an Excel spreadsheet with the last column indicating the hours and...

    Unexpected shutdowns

Mine still crashes and restarts about once or twice a day. Literally no pattern at all. My question is: What is restarting it? Usually when something crashes, it just quits. Is this a function of Windows 10 maybe?

    Unexpected shutdowns

I am getting these unexpected shutdown errors as well now (Restarted after unexpected shutdown (1500/40)). There is an error in the Application Event Viewer that corresponds to the time BI crashed. Lately, I have been getting this about once a day. Faulting application name: BlueIris.exe...

Help with clip: disk not ready errors!

Moved all of my files off of my D: drive and ran a Western Digital extended scan that came back fine. Now I have moved some of my cameras to record to the D: drive and some to record to the E: drive. I'm convinced this is some weird Blue Iris issue because I used the GUI to move all of my...

Help with clip: disk not ready errors!

I lowered the size down to 3 GB so I will see if that helps at all. No errors in the event log. I'm in the process of moving files off of my D: drive so I can run some utilities on it.

Help with clip: disk not ready errors!

I can try that, but I am pretty sure at some point I had some going to one drive and some to another and still experienced this issue. Why less than 3 GB? That's the first I have heard of that. Mine are typically between 6 and 10 GB a piece.

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

Yes, i believe so. Just make sure you export everything and have your original key on hand before you do anything. I didn't like not getting frequent updates by staying on BI4. After years of using BI, I know how often updates are put out and generally there are great features added. To me...

Blue Iris 4 to 5 Migration Guide

Just updated my BI from 4 to 5 and here are a few of my observations: Followed the instructions on the first page exactly. 1) Exported everything (general settings and each camera). 2) BI5 install went fine. Did this and rebooted. 3) Uninstalled BI4. Specifically said NO to uninstalling...

Basic performance query regarding hardware acceleration

This is how my task manager looks when using BI and H/W acceleration enabled. So yes, it should show some amount of GPU usage under the GPU column.

Hardware video decoding no longer works

Video Adapter: Intel 530 Driver Version: 25.20.100.6323 BI version: 4.8.5.3 I just installed the latest round of Windows updates, one of which was a video driver and now most of my cameras show "no signal", even though they are fully accessible on my network. They are all set for Hardware...

Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset

Have you ever run across a way to read the status of the IR lights? I have a C# program running as a service I wrote, and use the same method that @bp2008 uses to calculate Sunrise and Sunset times, but that is not indicative of the camera's exact ambient light conditions. There is always a...

Has anyone seen this display driver error before?

Probably a good suggestion. At some point, they will have to be updated anyway. Is the recommendation to go directly to Intel to get them?

Has anyone seen this display driver error before?

I get notifications that my cameras have gone offline (both text and email), which is the first thing I notice. Then, I try and bring up Blue Iris in my mobile app and it is non responsive. Then I try to connect to my PC using Remote Desktop and it tries and tries, and it does not connect...

Has anyone seen this display driver error before?

This happens rarely, but often enough to be concerning (about once every 6 to 8 weeks or so). The PC is Windows 10 Pro, headless, i7 6700K, and not using the latest Intel video driver intentionally because of the "CPU usage creep" bug. Anyway, here are a few screenshots of the Event Viewer...

    Continuous or Motion Recording?

Not necessarily. I have many of my cameras setup to view a wider area, so sometimes there might be some movement off in the distance that I want to capture, but is too small to set off the motion detection (based on how I have it setup). Therefore, I know that the motion will be captured in my...

Blue Iris URL for TinyCam Pro on Android?

This is all while I am at home, so the VPN is out of the picture. And yes, I do use a VPN when I am out of the house. Because, frankly, the web browser options on the Nvidia Shield really suck hard. I have checked the Play Store and not been impressed with anything I have found. It does not...

    Continuous or Motion Recording?

Definitely continuous record. It's all fun and games until you go to review an event and find out it didn't set an alert and you missed it.

Blue Iris URL for TinyCam Pro on Android?

For some reason, I am having a very difficult time getting this to work. I moved all of my IP Cameras (mixture of Dahua and HikVision) to their own VLAN, so they are intentionally isolated from my main network. So, my only recourse from the perspective of my Nvidia Shield with TinyCam Pro...

IPC-HDW5231R-ZE trying to contact Amazon IP

Interesting. If I hit that port number on the IP my cams are trying to connect to, I get a similar output. I have no [Network - Access Platforms - p2p] menu on my -Z12 cameras, however, to shut that off.

    Network buffer balance

How about trying Blue Iris on a different PC? Just throw it on a laptop or whatever else you might have and see what happens. I have used Blue Iris for years, with and without a monitor, and never seen the type of delay you are talking about. Seems like it's something with that PC and it's...

    Network buffer balance

Did you try and connect directly to the cameras using VLC as a streaming player? Perhaps it's not Blue Iris introducing the lag, but the cameras themselves.

    Network buffer balance

I have set my cameras video buffer anywhere from 1 MB to 20 MB (same model of camera) and have never seen any difference in Blue Iris's performance, so I'm not really sure what it does, but I wouldn't fixate too much on that setting. As for your lag issue, that does sound quite severe. On any...
