Economic solution to view IP CAMs on TVs

Reporting back, .... I have two HDTVs (Sharp & Samsung) on which I wanted to be able to switch quickly to view my camera streams. After considering the suggestions in this and other threads, I decided to try a HDMI-to-Cat5e-to-HDMI converter to display the HDMI output of my NVR display (which is...

Economic solution to view IP CAMs on TVs

Agreed. That's why I'm thinking use the existing BI server-client setup, run an existing browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and then simply extend the HDMI output over Ethernet to a TV. My weak link seems to be the browser and BI client.

Economic solution to view IP CAMs on TVs

Sounds great, except that I want to use a wired connection and Chromecast uses WiFi. I did, however, switch over to Chrome with the hope that it is more stable displaying the BI client 24/7. Sadly, when I checked this morning, Chrome, while still active, was telling me that the server (BI)...

Economic solution to view IP CAMs on TVs

I like this idea of using the HDMI extenders. Perfect for my application. As a test I have tried having Firefox run 24/7 on a PC with the BI client running to show the camera views, with the plan being that this is the PC display output (HDMI) I would port via Ethernet to my TV. However, when I...

    Transfer BI

I don't know about the clips but I just transferred my licensed BI to another PC. It was very simple. First, backup/export your settings (I think it is on the settings menu/screen). Second, install the full BI on the new PC. Third, load a copy of the backup/export file (it has a ".reg" file...

    Direct-to-disc or Re-encode with settings

Thanks, Fenderman, I did that too. However, I must have done something else wrong because now my Foscam cameras are either not triggering, recording very short unreadable files or (in the case of the 8910W) recording audio with an all black image. If someone has no suggestion my next step will...

    Direct-to-disc or Re-encode with settings

According to Win Task Manager, my CPU usage had been pretty constant at 100%. I switched all cameras over to direct-to-disc (with camera-generated identifiers and time/date stamps, and camera-inverted image in one instance), and my CPU is now running at ~46%. Many thanks for the explanations.

    Direct-to-disc or Re-encode with settings

I am setting up my cameras (3x Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I and 3x Foscam FI8904W/FI8918W/FI8910W) to record MP4 files for viewing on various devices. What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of the two available encoding techniques? (1) Direct-to-disc (2) Re-encode with settings And, if I use...

    Wall Mounts

I too have the plastic mounts - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JBMFFA8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - that I was planning to use outdoors. I did not know about the aluminum mounts, but they look like better ones for outdoors. Anyone have experience with the plastic mounts...

    BI website access?

I have tried getting into their website from several PCs today and it keeps requiring a username and password for access? ? Anyone know anything about what's going on? Thanks.

Blue Iris camera resolution with video tab

Looks like the setup screen for a Hikvision camera. In any event, my Hikvision camera was set fine but something must have gotten corrupted when I initially set it up in BI. After I deleted the camera from BI and re-added it, all was good.

    I will try that. Thanks!

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Thanks! I'll try that when I get home. I have been trying to use this with a login for a user with viewing limited to a designated "group" of cameras. Can this be accommodated somehow?

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

I did that and am using this address to login: http://[hostname]:10080/allcams.htm I get a black screen with a little white box in the top left of the screen (copy attached). If I click on the screen, random camera images appear. Maybe a browser issue? I am using Firefox, but IE did the same thing.

    Raspberry Pi & Blue Iris

I have BI running as a server to display the images from my cameras (3 Hikvision HD & 2 Foscam SD). I would like to also see this on my Samsung Smart TV upstairs. Using the TV browser may be an option (though I see mixed results in a related thread elsewhere here), but what would seem easier is...

I found a thread where some are getting a browser to work, but I like the HDMI suggestion. My PC running BI is downstairs but I can run HDMI over a Cat 5e cable this could work. Thanks.

I joined yesterday and was immediately helped. I have started with Blue Iris and three Hikvision HD cameras and two lower resolution Foscam cameras. So far so good for monitoring. I plan to get into motion detection and recording so I will be watching this forum for that stuff. I am also using...

Blue Iris camera resolution with video tab

Spot on. I deleted the camera and re-added it. All is now well, 1920x1080P 30fps. Many thanks to all! This is a great forum.

Blue Iris camera resolution with video tab

I did. Many times. :-) On that screen the image is set for 1920x1080P but in Blue Iris it keeps defaulting to 352x240 with no 1920x1080P option available. The other two cameras (all identical) work fine and are set in BI at 1920x1080P.

Blue Iris camera resolution with video tab

Hikvision HD 3MP IP dome camera, model DS-2CD2132-I I recently set up three of these cameras with Blue Iris. Two of them I can set for 1920*1080 resolution on the BI video tab, but the third one does not show that as an option and keeps defaulting to a lower resolution. I must be doing...
