    DS-2DE4225IW-DE questions...

    I have a few of these ptz’s and I just activated them via the web interface. Haven’t had an issue that way. Never powered them via Poe but only via a Poe+ switch or Poe+ injector.

    I invested in a Plantinum Tools EZ-RJ45 crimper and the EZ-RJ45 plugs and it was the best investment ever. I have now binned all my old rj45 plugs. Don’t even need to use a tester now as you know it just works.

    POE+ Injectors

    Any of you guys recommend a Poe+ injector for Hik Ptz cams like the DS-2DE4225IW-DE? Several clients want a ptz added to their setup and using an injector would be easier and hopefully cheaper than a new switch. I’ve seen a few but they were more expensive than a switch.

    But in terms of remote viewing over 4G etc, does the bitrate/max bitrate have to be considered or is it the bitrate or res set for the sub-stream used for the remote side of things and the main stream is the recording or I’m I getting mixed up?

    How do you determine what bitrate to set your camera at? If I bought 10 cams of the same model, they tend to be set to a different bitrate at default.

    Rural setup

    The Poe switch powers the cameras. This is a similar setup I use on numerous barns but quite often use fibre between the house and barn or wireless. Remember, if the barn is on a separate electric supply, you can’t use cat6 between house and barn due to earthing.
