    Are you even seeing any input? Most likely your cable is not corrected correctly (contact issues or wrong pin). Try playing around.

    Leave the connector outside, in a PVC pipe or box, is what I do. Drill a tiny hole for the ethernet cable and crimp it outside (or crimp one end and the other through the outside wall to inside w/e)

    Put a warning in the OP about the voltage level and not to use RS232. Anyways since the current is next to none in those serial interfaces I think your cam should be fine, get a proper converter and try again. (I used a raspi for flashing the SPI flash on the camera as well if all else fails...

    You should be able to use any software with it if the device is recognized by windows as a serial port (COM) Cool that your cam has a pinhead, hopefully the pinout is correct haha, might not want to connect VCC though?

    wtf that is cheap as fuck. 4 port PoE costs 50€+ here. You will not need more than 100MBit/s for 4 IPCameras. Or are you really planning to push more than 25 MBit/s per camera? (Good luck)

    Chances are the camera can not read your input if you can't read it's output XD But yeah you could try holding down * before/during plugging it in. Try other software first.

    Maybe try another software? Also does it spam the terminal or does it look like legit data is coming out of the camera, aka. with chunks printing at a time, some delays at boot and not constant spam.

    I mean sure if all you want is store the video and only ever look at it when something happened, it might work just fine as you described. Point is that FTP is ancient and was never a good protocol to begin with (and don't get me started with all the implementation differencs/incompatibilities)...
