Intel NUC Mini PC: Ideal for IPCAM w/Blue Iris?

Also consider storage, there is on-board, but it is limited, often depending on what model you get, if you want/need to keep storage local then a NUC has limits, you would need to consider NAS/SAN or 'quality' external, and at that point the NUC ceases to be fit for function as such

Any recommendation on NVR for like 50-60 cameras?

An NVR is a solution that provides an apple like scenario, closed and specific, ideal for situations where you may have 'meddlers' pretending to be IT literate, whereas using BI is for those that want the extra performance and potential, but it needs to be kept from the meddlers as they could...

Best way to view IPC on TV (Without HDMI feed)

Friend has gone down the Android box route and has gone through a number of them, I am not 100% sure of the reasons, but they do not appear to like running 24/7 with an app like ivms, they basically 'burn' out and no they are not just cheap ones :( In the end we did some work with extended HDMI...

Terminating incoming cat cable - socket or crimp ?

Under normal circumstances you would terminate with the rj45, the less breaks in the line the better, BUT the answer would depend on what you have or intend to do in the future, switch, patch panel etc for future growth, either way leave as much on the end as you can until you know the answer.

Best way to set up web cam for website

Loaded question.. There are a few ways, some easy, some not, are you admin on the website? RTSP streaming will allow you to display an image on a website with a 'little' effort' needed, or you can use the likes of angelbox if you have a RPi spare. You can also use a pc to stream using the...

Please help configure my new Asus

DHCP v Static, your PC and Roku are probably using DHCP to get an address so are indifferent when on either of the routers, but the cameras may be on static and so become confused, BUT having said that, this is only an assumption based on the minimal info you have provided and the answer may be...

added SSD to BI server - won't boot from it with old OS disk removed

Hell Yeah, I trained as a craftsman, but got into 'IT' over 35 years ago, I've worked for IBM, worked with the likes of Dell, HP and even Microsoft, done both corporate and private, worked for the man and for myself, and the sheer diversity of technology that is available today to nearly...

FYI - Swann has some good deals right now on Hikvision OEM cameras

The issues I saw with Swann was the fact that if it states on the box that it is compatible with NVRxyz then it ONLY worked with NVRxyz, even the sales people 'ass'umed that an ip camera would work with any of the Swann units, not for me, but a costly mistake for a friend... Units are rock...

Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P NVR vs Synology Surveilance Station

I would use the supplied 2 license on the SSS and 'see' how you feel about it and then decide if the extra is worth it, Having played with both it can come down to how much you will need to access the data and if the functions are the ones you need. Then when you are just about to hit the add...

As regards VPN, I too struggled at first, and the way I found it to work for me was to use a Raspberry Pi as the VPN device with this script doing the setup PiVPN: Simplest setup of OpenVPN I still had to do a port forward to the ip of that Pi on my router, but it worked. I found it after...

Thanks, but I was after info from anyone who HAD done this, the two screens are NOT next to each other, one could be 20-30M away and would require 'work' to be utilised and I was hoping someone had done this before money or time was wasted, it is not my install, it is a live site and testing is...

Swann NVR - is dual video out available?

On a Swann NVR (Hikvision!!) does anyone have any experience of being able to use BOTH the VGA and HDMI at the same time to display output? I am not wanting different output on one to the other, Just display the same thing at the same time without issue. Cheers
