    Good LPR Camera Choice?

Jump in with both feet guys. I was up-and-running with my 5241's in no time at all with the help of these ^^^ guys. You won't regret it. @samplenhold 's settings worked out wonderfully for my scenarios.

They appear to be old enough to own and drive motor vehicles, yet they act like 12 year olds. :screwy:

URGENT: HDD pinging at 100% constantly. Help please!

While I can't offer any real assistance, I can tell you that while my machine is humming along at 9-11% CPU usage (as reported by BI), my Task Manager also reports the "Power Usage" as Very High.

    Blue Iris settings issue

bslow, I hope you don't mind this, but after rethinking it, I thought that maybe you seeing my screens might even assist in your situation, with SouthernYankee commenting on my issues as well. So at the risk of looking like I'm taking over your thread, I will post my screens. Hopefully this...

    Blue Iris settings issue

SouthernYankee, thank you for sharing your screenshots! The BI Status (Clip Storage tab) is a good one too. As much as I need to bounce my own screenshots off of your knowledge base, I don't want to hijack bslow's thread, so I will stand down until all of his concerns are resolved to...

    Blue Iris settings issue

Awesome, thanks for posting. I see your version of BI has a different message in the Database section of the dialog box: Mine reads "Important! Database and New should remain on Local/Fast storage." Whereas yours is worded in a less suggestive manner, with "(and ideally New folder)" to...

    Blue Iris settings issue

@bslow47, Would you be able to post screen shots of your clips settings and perhaps what the folder structure in Windows looks like? After many weeks' of struggles, I don't have an allocation problem any longer, but I'm still not set up per SouthernYankee's guidelines and I was unable to...

    One last drink :-)

Does anybody think the victim who was run over lacks the basic sense to jump OUT of the way, rather than to RUN RIGHT INTO the front bumper? Da fuk.

Saturday Night Fun in the Country

Yes, I agree with your shifting view of the evidence. While it's silent before your property, and silent after, my first thought is that somebody rigged that vehicle up to backfire on command, and perhaps they're just messing with you. Is that possible? And for what it's worth, the images...

    Close up visitor

That's an interesting point. By the way, I do have some pretty strong floods over the driveway, but definitely not snow :) Thanks a ton. Interesting on the "Shutter Priority" and associated settings, that will be something interesting I've got to try. One issue I had in using a batch of...

    Close up visitor

@mikeynags, would you be so generous as to share your settings to obtain such crystal-clear nighttime video? Your deer in motion has only the slightest fuzz around its body. I've asked a couple others to share but so far no takers. That's not to say there haven't been some suggestions, but...

    Cache and RPM on HDDs

I was looking at 10 TB Purple drives today and noticed something I hadn't paid any attention to in the past; 64 MB Cache vs. 256 MB Cache. How does this affect me? A couple years ago I bought my first HDD, a Purple 4 TB, it's only 64 MB cache, and only 5400 RPM, and I know BI recommends 7200...

    Dedicated license plate camera

Nice video from what I've watched so far, good work catching the jerk in the Benz blowing the STOP sign, I caught that before you even highlighted it in your video. I'll watch the rest later when I gots more time. I like the way you can "out" people online :D

    Dedicated license plate camera

I ran into that a few weeks back, freaked out cuz I needed one more (a 2nd one to fulfill my needs) and I just missed pulling the trigger and someone else nabbed the last two on Amazon. I PM'd Andy and he shot one straight over from Hong Kong in a matter of days. SATISFIED CUSTOMER! :thumb...

    Dell 7040 three drives?

Assuming the cable connections are there, and for some real hackery, LENGTHENING them, then couldn't the drives be mounted remotely? Like on top of the machine, or beside it? Just thinking outside of the box here.

    Fine-Tuning & SAVING Focus

Hahaha! I'm so dumb. All that fussing around with focus and I realized I still had the plastic film over the lens on the new camera  I'm impressed how well it worked through the plastic! Anyway, I've been working on conduits for other cams and haven't gotten to this one, but...

    Darkfighter lpr night vision issues

For what it's worth, I'm running "Night" settings full-time and it still works awesome during the day. Just monochromatic gray, like on IR, but clear as day. By the way, if it's not too inconvenient, you might try what I've been doing: I have a loose license plate off one of my cars, I've...

Please, for the love of all that's holy, please make a sticky or Readme for noobs like me who are just getting into cams

In addition to the Wiki and Cliffs, what helped me was culling through the newb Introductions, page after page, to find many questions answered that had already been asked by others. It's kind of like locking yourself in a room for a while and immersing yourself in existing information. It can...

Ring camera captures catalytic converter theft at gunpoint in Bellevue

Yeah, no such luck. At least in my state, I'd end up being the aggressor for engaging them and end up behind bars. We're supposed to retreat and let them take whatever they want. And, of course, our legislators and police won't do a damned thing about it.

    Fine-Tuning & SAVING Focus

Ahhh! B-I-N-G-O. Okay, mystery solved! ;) Edit: Thanks for that API (that's new to me, I don't know what it is). I'll give that a whirl. As it turns out, that is the IP address I'm working with, I haven't changed it since I'm just playing with the location.

    Fine-Tuning & SAVING Focus

Okay, so I just did a test of sorts. I single-stepped it up to 1411, then logged out. When I logged back in and hovered, it showed 1420. So it seems to increment to the nearest whole number within the range of 20 steps.

    Fine-Tuning & SAVING Focus

That's a good question you bring up. Yes, I almost always focus and zoom from the live screen and using the controls on the upper-right, this way I can actually see the changes in real time, rather than that reduced view when working in the settings tabs. But it's behaving the same in both...

    Fine-Tuning & SAVING Focus

Hi wittaj, Yes, IE for the web interface, and definitely manual focus. And definitely have worked with both 1-step and 5-step focus, just trying everything and not getting any joy. For more weirdness that I didn't bother to mention here: on at least one of my turrets, I'll be stepping on...
