How do I remotely take a 'snapshot'

I'm trying to force BI to take a snapshot. In the camera Record tab I already have it taking a snapshot every 60 minutes and it then FTPs it to a remote site. I am trying to do the same but remotely and on-demand. The trigger works but it uses the naming established in the Post tab. I want to...

Tried it and got an OK response but no snapshot was taken. I did test the trigger and it worked fine.

How do I remotely take a 'snapshot'

Thanks. That helps a lot. This will trigger a cam: http://12.34.56.78:8080/admin?camera=Driveway_Cam&trigger&user=user&pw=password So does this sound right to take a snapshot? http://12.34.56.78:8080/cam/Driveway_Cam?pos=100&user=user&pw=password

How do I remotely take a 'snapshot'

I have a use case where I need to send an http: command to BI4 to take a JPEG snapshot on a specific camera. Not wanting to trigger the camera. Would produce the same results as would when you right click a camera and click snapshot. I know I can trigger them. But can find anywhere about taking...

    Arduino questions..

Home Automation is addictive. Folks plow lots of bucks into it. I temper that with always requiring myself to have a good and justifiable use case before spending. Unfortunately, I tend to 'justify' lots of things. I started about 10 years ago with lots of interest but found the technology was...

    Arduino questions..

Hey, I get it. I tend to be that way too. Good that you understand yourself that well. For me, I usually realize this after the fact. My current interest is Arduino. Hopefully it will stick. If in the future you find yourself committed to home automation, remember HomeSeer. There is another low...

    Arduino questions..

I can't dispute that HomeSeer does have a cost consideration. I bought my license during a sale and got 50% off. They do that from time to time. I also have paid one-time fees of about $200 for plugins. All in on licensing I am about at $400 - one time. But maybe in the case of HS you get what...

    Arduino questions..

Just gonna put in a plug for HomeSeer. I started with BI on a Win10 machine. Got it working well in two different locations. Mobile app is -ok-. Started researching home automation and, after long deliberation, decided on HomeSeer. First it works really well with BI on the same Win10 server. So...

    Favorite Z-Wave brands

I absolutely would buy HS again. Blue Iris also. Reasons: 1. I am on a metered satellite for my internet. It is relatively slow, has some latency, less than 100% reliable, and has a monthly data cap. So for those reasons, a HA system that relied on the cloud was not going to work for me. Also...

    Favorite Z-Wave brands

In my environment (HomeSeer and Insteon), I would be looking at ramp rate. In this environment I can set an instant ON/OFF or can ramp it UP/DN slowly. Mostly controlled by ramp rate however the default dim level would also come into play.

    Favorite Z-Wave brands

I don't have any z-wave devices but there are several that I am interested in. I currently have about 30 Insteon devices. Mostly lighting control but there are sensors too (door/motion). There are some holes in the Insteon product line when it comes to sensors. I see a lot more selection in the...

    Gday

Welcome @motef, Lots of folks around here with a wide range of knowledge and experience. There are a variety of sub-forums with specific areas of interest. Find a few that interest you and keep an eye on them. You will learn. When you have a question, do some searches to see if it has already...

    Blue Iris Lua question.

Make sure the user has admin rights. Not sure if that is your problem but when I started running BI as a service, it was a problem for me running certain scripts. Admin rights fixed it.

Recomended OS - New Blue Iris Server

Did anybody even read this post(#163964)? I wrote it in the context of my situation where I have a data cap. However, it will work on any ethernet connection. It effectively stops automatic updates but gives you the control to allow them whenever you want. Recomended OS - New Blue Iris Server

Recomended OS - New Blue Iris Server

I am on a satellite with a data cap so automatic updates are not what I wanted. On my laptop (win 8.1) I am able to set a wireless conntection to 'metered' at it won't load updates unless I tell it to. On my BI3/HS3 machine(win 10 home), it is cable connected, not wireless. Turns out you can't...

Next step in securing your home!

I first got into security with Webcam7 about 10 years ago. Six months ago I switched to Blue Iris. Then I got interested in home automation. My first requirement was that any system run totally locally and not rely on any outside system such as the cloud. I'm on satellite with a data cap and...

    Remote property broken into...

I live 75 miles from Seattle in the Cascade Mountains. Very rural. Few people. Not the demographics that Comcast is looking for. Too far from the telco hub for DSL to work. No cell either, hence the land line. Yea, I guess it is the middle of nowhere or at least on the edge.

    Remote property broken into...

Regarding satellite internet, I have it but only because I have no other choice other than dialup (14.4 max due to low quality lines). For security I use Blue Iris and HomeSeer. The problem is that satellite plans usually have a data cap. Mine is 10GB per month. That pretty much precludes video...

In BI camera motion sensor tab, can't edit zones and hot spot

I only have one user on that system (WIN10 home) and it is at administrator level. BI is running as a service.I just checked task manager under services and BI is running under user SYSTEM.

In BI camera motion sensor tab, can't edit zones and hot spot

For some reason, on each of my cameras, I am no longer able to edit the zones and hot spots. When I go into the motion sensor configuration screen, Use Zones is checked but the edit button is grayed out. I've edited them before but now can't. Any ideas?

    Lost in lala land!

Be sure and save your configuration every once in a while when you get things going the right way. In settings, you can back up BI and in each camera you can back up that camera config.

    Lost in lala land!

I went with a Win 10 PC solution because I liked BI the best. BI normally uses around 25% cpu supporting 4 cams. Since CPU wasn't an issue, I also installed HomeSeer for automation and security. They play really nice together. And Win 10 is very solid. I couldn't be happier (unless I could add...

Contest > Win a *FREE* WD Purple 2TB Surveillance Drive

Wow, very generous of you! If I were to win this I would add continuous recording. Now I just capture clips and snapshots. I wonder what new world that would open up. Thanks again for the contest.

Windows Sensors Connect to BI? (or must get Hub first?)

In addition to BI, here are the components you would need to get started with HS3 and Insteon. Other items would be needed for zigbee or z-wave. The prices below are list. You can often find discounts. Right now the HS software is on sale for 20% off. Home Control Software | HomeSeer Store...
