I don't remember that. I can check and let you know tomorrow. Is there any other setting that you would like me to check? There was one setting called 'Illumination Mode' with options of white, warm and something else, I forgot. Deepak

IPC3614SE-ADF28KM-WL-I0 I think from memory. These days apparently they only make 5mp cameras on much smaller sensors, I don't know why. I was also trying to buy 2 mp camera on 1/2.8” camera but couldn't get one.

Hi All Sorry for the long absence. We have been trying to fix up the issue of accessing the video footage securely over the internet. That is now fixed. I don't exactly know how that has been realized but apparently a 'Dial In User' has been created in the router and I had to create a new VPN...

Hi Everyone Sorry for this longish post but had to give you all some background information to work with. Thanks for the information about UI3. I will be using it, no issues. I understand that hence I should have no need for the Blue Iris App. All good on that note. I will be buying the...

Hi Everyone Back again for a couple of questions, one regarding the locations of the various folders for the Blue Iris software and the other about changing the image resolution of the camera as I couldn't get some of the cameras that I was looking for. Question 1 My HP Elite Desktop now has...

Really, there is no better way. HP designed the system with no facility to install a HDD with proper fixings. Leave a hell of a lot to be desired if that's how they build their systems but nonetheless. Deepak

Hi Guys Just bought the 6 TB WD Purple HDD and am trying to install it. The holes in the drive don't align with any holes in the holding bracket. How do we ensure that the HDD is affixed to the HDD cage. Some of the videos online show use of Torx screws, is that what is required to fix it to...

Oh mate Seriously, there is no way known I would be able to get all of that right!!!!!!!!!!! I struggle with the basic networking stuff. I am not looking at reading the number of cars going past my house - just those that are driving in to my driveway or are parked just alongside my nature...

Done the initial setup of Blue Iris - seemed pretty painless. It did ask me if I wanted to download and install Codeproject AI, which I declined as advised. With that done, can you get face detection and/or license plate recognition without it? The camera hasn't arrived yet but I am hoping that...

For the installation of Blue Iris, can I just go and do the simple installation as per one of the guides that I have found? Before setting the setting up in the software, I will go through the BI help files available.

Mate We get a few mm of rainfall here and there (not talking about some of those country areas which are prone to flooding of course) with some cold temperatures in Melbourne/Adelaide/Canberra but no tornados, twisters, avalanches etc - can't really call that 'servere weather conditions', can...

oh mate! Things never stop getting more and more complicated. So, this additional NIC goes where - on this new PC (HP EliteDesk), is it? I will get this other guy (who'd be redoing my home networking setup creating the required VLAN's and other bits) to do that side of things. I am sure he'd...

Eventually got a HP EliteDesk with 16 GB RAM ($50 for additional 8gb), 512 GB NVMe SSD ($40 replacement of 256 GB std HDD with it) with Win 10 Pro, with supposedly free upgrade to Win 11. Hopefully that should serve new well.

Looking for advice of Camera and Software

Normally, I would delete the old footage (older than a week anyway) unless it's about an event (hopefully not) which I would then want to move to my NAS. So 16gb RAM, 256 gb on SSD, about 5tb WD purple HDD and preferably Win11 installed is the way to go right? Best regards Deepak

Sorry guys Point taken - I will enquire for 16gb RAM upgrade. Forgot to ask one more thing. I was going through the setting up guide for Blue Iris and they said that the 'New' and the 'db' folder should be on the local fast drive. In that case, should I upgrade the storage from 256 gb to 500...

Sorry guys for the fickle mindedness but I am thinking to go for the HP EliteDesk now with a processor that is going to be supported by Windows 11 viz i5 8500 (8th generation - I understand from what I have read that 8th generation and above would be supported by Win11 unless I have got it...

Thanks This is going to be a dedicated PC wholly and solely for running Blue Iris and nothing else. So I take it that it should be good for me anyway. I don't think Win10 support is going to get discontinued in a hurry given that a lot of large corporations here still run Win10 and normally...

Looking for advice of Camera and Software

Was looking at the one of 5442 camera suggested above - these are very expensive cameras here in Australia - for some reason the pricing here is higher by about a factor of about 1.5 and these ones come at around AUD550, definitely beyond my budget for multiple such units. Alternatively, I was...

So, if you do not give them internet access, then how do you watch the footage when you are not home. I would have thought that would be one of the more important reasons to have the security cameras installed, isn't it? That's where that wireguard stuff comes in, does it? @looktall I did see...

Oh mate. Good on you. That was exactly what I was looking for all along. Great explanation. Your efforts are sincerely appreciated. Now I see why more light is needed.
