    Hikvision camera image adjustment

I am using Win 10, and I did not know about Edge having the open in IE mode. I tried it and it works. Thank you, I am now able to fully access the problem camera. I know very little about IE or Edge since I use Firefox as my default browser. By the way, I had tried Blue Moon based on...

    Hikvision camera image adjustment

I'm trying to adjust brightness and contrast. Yes, it is via the Virtual Host function of NVR. I've kind of narrowed it down to the fact it appears to be an issue with the browser as I no longer have IE. All my other cameras seem to work well with Chrome. I cannot find any browser that will...

    Hikvision camera image adjustment

I just added a DC 2CD-2032 to my Hik NVR system. When logging into the camera through IE, adjusting the image controls has no affect on the image. It does respond to some adjustments such as auto or scheduled change, but nothing else. I have 7 other cameras on the NVR (all connected directly...

    Refrigerator/freezer remote monitoring

thanks for all the info and suggestions. I may not should have asked my question in the HA sub-forum. I'm really not trying to get into HA but just a way to monitor 2 fridges and a freezer. I'd like remote access like I have for my cameras, but I may just concentrate on some good wireless or...

    Refrigerator/freezer remote monitoring

I would like to remotely monitor temps in my fridge. My preference would be to get push notifications on alarm, and be able to get remote access to current temps. Anyone got recommendations on reliable brands/models?

    Camera Image adjustment

OK, thanks got it. I had previously been making all settings directly in cameras gui but ran into a weird situation. There was a setting missing in the camera gui that was on the NVR gui. I think it was the color "hue" setting. Normally it would be a setting that did not make any real...

    Camera Image adjustment

OK. Could you expand on that a little. What's the difference in adjusting the camera directly vs. using browser to access the NVR, or using the NVR software to adjust the settings? In either means is there going to be a difference in the Live View or the recorded image?

    Camera Image adjustment

I hope this makes sense since I'm confused about the correct way to adjust the image controls on my Hik cameras. I can use IE web browser to access the camera and adjust, use IE web browser to access the NVR and adjust each camera's image settings individually, or go directly into the NVR...

    AC inductive effect

So how do these sources of noise show up on the cameras? Visible lines of distortion? Lack of recording?

    AC inductive effect

Thanks for the input. Lots of various Romex runs in the area of the CAT cable, and some do have high current, A/C's etc. If I'd thought about it I could have ran the CAT through a piece of EMT conduit for shielding. It would be a fair amount of work to do it now, and besides as I said, I'm...

    AC inductive effect

I've read where it is not advisable to run CAT cable along side AC power lines, and I assume this is because of the inductive effect. Because of the design of my attic, I've had to run my CAT6 cables parallel and very close to several pieces of Romex for a distance of about 8 feet. I've never...

    basic NVR/switch question

OK, so then are the cameras on the switch assigned an IP address on the default gateway i.e. 192.168.200.xxx instead of the address assignment of the cameras connected directly to the NVR i.e. 192.168.254.xxx? The NVR's lan port is currently connected to my network. If I connect the switch to...

    basic NVR/switch question

I have an 5 cameras attached directly to a Hikvision NVR. I would like to add 2 additional cameras to a remote switch for the benefit of only having to run one run of Cat 6 back to the NVR. Do I connect the run from the switch directly into one of the camera ports on the NVR, or does the...

    camera image control issue

Well thank you. IE 10 with the right plugin did work. I had tried IE a little while ago but apparently had not installed the plugin.

    camera image control issue

I have an old DS-2CD2032 camera that I have added to my NVR. When accessing the camera to change the image settings, I'm not getting any response when going through a web browser. Making changes to the settings yields no results. I've tried using different browsers. I can go through the NVR...

Ip cams/nvrs better on secure net side or vlan side?

By "limiting access" would an NVR on a VLAN still provide for remote access using OpenVPN?

Ip cams/nvrs better on secure net side or vlan side?

Yes it's a POE NVR. Subnet mask is same on both 255.255.255.0

Ip cams/nvrs better on secure net side or vlan side?

Question please. My LAN default gateway is 192.168.200.xxx. My cameras are directly interfaced with my NVR and show up as 192.168.254.xxx. Would this be considered as their own network and provide any degree of safety?

    Continous recording & motion events

Please see my OP. I don't want to record motion only. I record continuously. I only want to see in the playback timeline when motion events have occurred. For instance, a camera is recording 24/7. At some time during the day an event occurs where an object triggers a motion event. I'm...

    Continous recording & motion events

I record continuously but would like be able to review motion events that occur. I know it's possible because at one time I had a camera set up to where I could view motion activated events on the playback timeline. Would someone please walk me through the set up process on a Hikvision camera...

    Security question

I'm not pulling time from NTP server. Using "manual time sync" on Hikvision cameras. Seems to work OK. No provision for checking for firmware update.

    Security question

I did the all the above. In fact was at a remote location outside my LAN. Browser would still connect to NVR. As to you earlier questions: No Port Forwarding List and Port Forwarding is turned OFF. The services you mention under Administration are all turned off.

    Security question

Actually in my firmware it's "apply", not save.

    Security question

I'm going to Network Map, clicking on the NVR, and enabling "Block Internet Access". I rebooted router just to make certain. What else do I need to do? As far as testing, see my post # 13. How can I try to access my NVR remotely without without going through VPN? Setting up something like...

    Security question

Well, I hope so but still feel like a complete novice at home network security. All of your comments are valuable and I wish I could intelligently discuss them. I'm not using my home network as a business, and while I'd like it to be as secure as possible, there's very little to be compromised...

    Security question

Router is AC86U. Cameras are all tied to NVR, so assume I would have to remove and tie to network to see if could be accessed directly. Checked again. Enable Upnp = no. NVRr setting: block internet access = on. Everything does appear to be working correctly, but as you say, it shouldn't.

    Security question

This thread is very interesting but I admit is way over my knowledge level in regards to networking. I don't have a clue as to how to test for "gaping holes" in my configuration, but would be willing to learn. I did confirm uPnP setting is off. On my client (iPhone) I turned off the OpenVPN...

    Security question

Yes, I tried it outside the network and I was able to access my NVR. I'm using an AC86U using OpenVPN.
