BI updates, are they getting buggier

I'm mostly a lurker but I can say I've been using BI for almost a year now and I generally update every time an update is released. Sometimes it may be every few but mostly every one as it comes. I can say with the simple way I use BI that I do not have many issues, problems or complaints. Sure...

[How to] Telephone alerts in BI with OBi200?

Also, if I remember correctly, modems have both a phone in and out jack. You can plug your phone in to the In port of the modem and the modem's out port in the Obi200.

[How to] Telephone alerts in BI with OBi200?

You just need a splitter for the phone port on the Obi200. That way you can plug both a phone and the modem in to the Obi200 phone port. Also, If you already have phone jacks wired in your home you can plug the phone port of the Obi200 in to any phone jack and use the remaining phone jacks...

    Blue Iris Office Monitor

I just use an old PC that still runs XP. I put a video card in it with an hdmi out and connect it to a 32" tv for it's monitor. Then I open the BI web page. If you already have a PC in your office and can connect a second monitor, you can do that if you didn't want a second PC.

Constant recording AND motion triggering at the same time

If you only want notifications during the night and not during the day you need 2 schedules. Schedule one could be for day time and set the cams to continuous recording without alerts then set schedule two for night with continuous recording and alerts that trigger your email notifications.

    Continuous Recording, Pre-Trigger and D2D

Well, since my new system is an i7 4th gen and with 3 cams set to continuous recording, 1 triggered recording and the BI server console open showing one camera full screen, I'm only at 15% I may not worry too much about it. All the cams are at 2mp also. Thanks again fenderman, I really...

    Continuous Recording, Pre-Trigger and D2D

So should I uncheck pre-trigger or does it matter? I'm assuming the warning for impact only applies when using pre-trigger with triggered recording. So since the cameras are always recording there isn't any additional performance impact?

    Continuous Recording, Pre-Trigger and D2D

I had my system setup for triggered recording with D2D. With that I also had the pre-trigger set and working for an additional 3 seconds. I decided to try out continuous recording and still use the triggered alerts. Does the pre-trigger settings not matter when you do continuous recording? I ask...

    Geofencing

It has been working for me. The only issue I seem to have is entering the geofence. It's sometimes a little slow to update when I get home but it's quick to update to outside when I leave.

The 2mp laview/hikvision cube camera is on sale for 90

I have 2 of these I got back when Newegg had them on sale. They work fine. The only drawback is the light sensor doesn't detect light that well so it stays in night mode all the time. My family room is a little dark. However, this can be overcome by setting a schedule for night an day modes in...

Windows 10 auto updates and reboot, anyway to stop it?

You can actually disable the windows update service but if you do you should at least turn it on and run updates once in a while.

Recording storage to 2 locations at same time

Thanks fenderman, I didn't think about the cloned cam option. I may give that a try. My only problem with cloned cams is that you can't hide them in the web and mobile apps. Unless that has changed?

Recording storage to 2 locations at same time

Is it possible to record clips to 2 different drives at the same time? Not even sure this is worth the effort but I was thinking of having BI store new clips on a local drive and then also have it save them to a nas. This way when accessing BI via the web or mobile app the clips I watch are...

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Ok. I extracted to a empty folder and then copied everything over once again and it's working now after I did a ctrl-F5 refresh. Thanks for the tip.

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

I downloaded using the link in the first post. However, thinking back I might have unzipped the files in to a folder with some old UI2 files. I will unzip again to a fresh folder.

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

I just built a new system and freshly loaded the latest BI 4.1.4 and most recent UI2 files and I'm getting stuck on busy loading clips. I thought maybe it was the fact I didn't have any clips to view since it was a fresh install so I waited till all cameras had some clips to view but it still...

Advice for lost power on BI PC

Yes, you want a UPS. Not only for power outages but for those times the power flickers or surges. I just recently lost my BI server due to a flicker. Fried the motherboard. Also, if you use a UPS and set it up correctly you can have the UPS send a signal to the PC to shutdown correctly when...

To Get and I5 or I7, That is the Question

I have a ups in the basement for the rack with the switches but the batteries need replacement. Guess after this lesson I will be replacing those batteries sooner rather than later. I would hate to loose the switches. The rest of my computers only have surge protection but that doesn't really...

To Get and I5 or I7, That is the Question

I have a motherboard coming that was $70. It has integrated video with hdmi so I won't need a video card which I did need in my old system. I use a 32 vizio for my screen. Ram I have as well as the drives from the old system so I'm good there. Funny you mention UPS. I have a 1500VA ups that I...

To Get and I5 or I7, That is the Question

I have to agree with you. Since I already have the ram and other stuff, and I'm not one to pay the price for the newest latest and greatest, this sale sounds like it was set up for me.

To Get and I5 or I7, That is the Question

I just got an email from newegg and can get the i7-4790 for $289.99. I think that's my no-brainner. I was considering the i5-4690K for $229.99 so for $60 more I can have the i7. My old system was an old 1st gen i7 and with BI running with the console open it idled at 12%. Guess I'll be happier...

To Get and I5 or I7, That is the Question

So earlier this week we had some storms roll through and our power flickered. It flickered just enough for all the computers to reboot. However, my BI server didn't come back. That darn power flicker took out my mainboard. So I'm building a new one and can't decide on an I5 or I7 processor...

    Geofence turning off one camera?

I have a few cameras outside and a couple inside. I setup 2 profiles, one for trigger recording which includes all the outside cameras. The second profile is triggered recording with push alerts to my BI app and includes all cameras inside and out. Then I use geofencing to change the profile...

    Help with Networking Issue

I power cycled the BI server, my mobile device and the PC I was trying to access the BI server from. All from within the local lan. The cameras on the BI server restored fine and I could still access the cameras directly from my PC. I'll have to either clear the ARP cache in the 2960 or power...
