Vista 20P Trim Stage - Best Practices Thread

Some of you may have seen my thread here about Vista 20P Shopping List which has some nice information contained. I'm now at the point of programming the Vista 20P and want this thread to be a help for me and future visitors the best practices and processes of finishing trimming the hardware...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Is there anyway to setup this Reolink door bell without any internet connectivity or more importantly without using Reolink proprietary tools (iOS/Android/Windows clients)? Like, can I simply plug it into a router that has DHCP server already to assign it an IP and then browse to the IP and it...

Best wall-mounted touch screen viewer of feed?

I've only discovered some old posts about this so I apologize if this has been brought up recently. I'm running BI with 7 Dahua cameras. I have pre-wired CAT6 to two locations in my home, stubbed out of the wall, with the intent of putting some type of security camera viewer touch screen at...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I have a question and apologize ahead of time for only reading 20 of the 77 pages thus far so it may have already been addressed. :lmao: Will the Reolink DB (PoE) work with the included Reolink chime even if you block all internet access to the door bell? I am thinking about installing this...

@mat200 anything come up that you found worth while? I'm also eyeing some SD cards and a solid computer to run Blue Iris.

Stucco finish - semi-buried junction box

Friends, I affixed the rear piece of the Dahua PFA121 junction box to the plywood of a house. It then got stucco application installed. The result is that the rear piece that is secured to the plywood is buried by the stucco 1/8" give or take. I can install the front piece that the camera...

Does this look like a 'random' house egging to you?

Seems targeted. It would be weird to egg a house randomly but then again I'm not a teenager with a half functioning brain. I actually laughed at how fast they ran back to the vehicle and sped off. If I didn't know the context I would have said they just robbed a bank!

Battery to run camera 24/7 and simply replace battery?

This is more in-line with what I was thinking. Getting some batteries to power a POE switch (or maybe just some POE injectors to reduce total power usage as the switch is probably 3 watts) and then finding a mechanism to charge the batteries.

Few simple Q's about Dahua install junction box

To be clear, you also have a hole at the top side as well (same orientation as my photo where there is a hole at the top and hole on the "left" side when looking at it directly like your photo.

Battery to run camera 24/7 and simply replace battery?

I just used a kill-a-watt and these cameras only use 6 watts. It seems I incorrectly thought that I could simply use something like a 12 volt rechargable battery that is 12 Ah and run a camera for over 24 hours without having to charge it.

Also should I chalk/silicone anywhere such as on the top once installed on the wall to prevent water from getting into the junction box?

Battery to run camera 24/7 and simply replace battery?

Yikes that is $1400. That would be a great long term solution but I'm looking for a solution that is basically trashed after 3 or 4 months. Certainly there is some type of battery system with rechargeable batteries that I can swap out every few days?

Battery to run camera 24/7 and simply replace battery?

I am going to be installing some Dahua turret and bullet cameras on a home that is nearly complete. For the time being I would like to install the cameras and have them record on each device's SD card for the remainder of construction until permanent power is issued and full network gear...

Few simple Q's about Dahua install junction box

Friends, I am preparing to install some Dahua bullets and turrets using Dahua's junction boxes (PFA-121 for bullet and PFA-122 for turret). I want to make sure I do this right the first go around when it comes to physical installation. I hope that you'll be kind enough to answer a few simple...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

Forgive my ignorance, but when you say "doubled up" are you saying using 22-4 wire and then when using a window/door sensor, such as the 944T, that you would hook TWO of the wires up to one terminal of the 944T and the other TWO wires up to the other terminal of the 944T and then of course...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

No single door/window sensor is over a few hundred feet. I just figured I would buy a 500 foot box or maybe even 1,000 foot. For whatever reason in my notes I wrote down that door/window sensors needed 18/2. If it can be totally good with 22/2 (or 22/4) then that would be great. I agree...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

Any suggestions for 18/2 cable for wired door sensors for 500 feet? I went to purchase Genesis WG-11185501 18/2 from AlarmGrid and they said it is out of stock and for whatever reason ADI isn't showing it on their website but they do show Genesis WG-21145501 18/2 but AlarmGrid said that they...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

If the cabinet (let's just say the Vista cabinet) has a large hole in the drywall then shouldn't the cabinet have a large hole in it? This I would have to manually create, which isn't a big deal, but certainly don't want to do something that is way out of the ordinary. I figured I would get a...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

Since the 20P is wall mounted what is the best method of getting the wires into the cabinet? I see the punch out holes in the top which I can come through but then you'll see wires exposed above the panel. Is id anyway adviseable to have a normal 1 gang outlet type box to run all of the cables...

Residential cameras for exterior- bullet vs turret

@Heavyopp - I acquired a PFA 122 mount and a T54IR turret. You are absolutely right, the PFA 122 is the same as the PFA 121 with just a hole pattern difference so you can swap the cover to fit a bullet if desired in the future. Excellent! The PFB203 wall mount bracket unfortunately doesn't...

Residential cameras for exterior- bullet vs turret

I'm not sure I follow what you mean that "I'd hate to think of trying to do it without". Do you mean you would hate to think about mounting an external camera without a junction box? @Heavyopp - How do I know what bullet (for pfa121) and turrent (for pfa122) is compatible? Are any of the...

Residential cameras for exterior- bullet vs turret

Interesting, so it sounds like if the identify feet ~20' is accomplished via bullet or turrent then it is simply a personal preference but definitely don't use DOMES outside. For the PFB203W wall mount which looks to be the common wall mount for many Dahua turrent's, do I mount that after the...

Residential cameras for exterior- bullet vs turret

That is what sparked this thread! The bullet in OP is huge! Certainly noticeable on a house (which is good but also bad). If going turret, do I need to install the wall mount before or after stucco installation? For a bullet I was going to install PFA121 on the plywood before stucco...

Residential cameras for exterior- bullet vs turret

For a single family residence I have read that you almost always want to go with a bullet design. However, whether right or wrong, it seems in my local area all residential exterior cameras are dome or turret. I only see bullets on commercial buildings in my area. I’m looking to cover a front...

    Honeywell Vista 20P Shopping List

@smiticans - Amazing! thank you for your help, that worked perfectly. The installation instructions that came within the WAVE2 was tiny with very little information. When you say "See page 2-4 in the installation manual" what manual are you referring to? With the Visa 20P it came with a...

@smiticans thank you for the continued help about the SMP3, 1361-GT transformer and WBOX 0E-SR100S - B connectors. I'll have to look into these further on where I would use them. To be totally clear about the keypads themselves: Each keypad is a home-run to the panel? Or do I just have one...
