Which Computer Do I Buy To Run Blue Iris On? What Do You Use?

Interesting and I am not surprised. I strongly considered Netgear when I needed my POE switch but as mentioned I ended up with a ZyXel switch and I am one who always over researches stuff before I hit the buy button.

New to IP cams, looking to learn

:welcome: Start by reading the Cliff Notes in the wiki, then read them a second time:D You are off to a good start but I would plan on adding a spare PC vs using your existing home server. I run Blue Iris on WIN 10 and six Dahua/Empire Tech cams, 100% happy with my setup.

Which Computer Do I Buy To Run Blue Iris On? What Do You Use?

Look at Dell Outlet, look at the scratch & dents. I have bought several in the past and never could tell the difference from the new ones I bought. Intel CPU's are preferred with BI but my home built (Windows 10 O.S.) Ryzen runs like a Swiss watch. Ryzen 2700 with 16 GB RAM, NVMe 500GB SSD for...

How do you seal an unused 12V Connector on the camera?

I would use dielectric grease in the connection, then coax seal, and then tape.

A Dahua 5442 2.7 - 12 MM varifocal turret for faces, $175 (Empire Tech Amazon). A Dahua 5442 8 - 32MM for License Plates, $235 (Empire Tech Amazon). These should work for the intended purposes, there are other options but I believe these would meet your stated requirements.

    Computer for 4-8 cameras?

A wise man one told me that cameras multiply like rabbits, he was right. I figured 4 cameras MAX, currently I am at six active cameras and several unmounted new in box looking for a location and finding time to mount and cable them.

Hello Andy, the site looks good, here are my comments. "Pay with Security and Affordable Price" have the same verbiage underneath. Help me piece out a system

As mentioned read the Cliff Notes. I like the idea of starting slow and building. The following is a good budget approach to start slow and add cameras as your needs are better understood of what will work the best. A 2MP Dahua varifocal rebrand can be purchased for $125 from the IPCamtalk...

Hello From Atlanta - Help on PC build

:welcome: I am not an expert but your MOBO and CPU have more than enough horsepower to run a solid system. P137 mounting upside down?

I am perplexed as to why the CAT5E can only be fed thru the top? I must be missing something, it seems to me you could go through the bottom middle or alternatively drill one of the side plugs about 1/4" to feed from the side.
