    Who's ARPing my Camera?

It was unchecked, so I checked it. We'll see if the behavior improves.

    Who's ARPing my Camera?

I have a Blue Iris server box behind a port forward (port 81 only) from my pfsense 2.60 appliance, on a "things" subnet of my segmented network, along with my IP cameras, smart TVs, etc. All cameras have DHCP reservations: One camera in particular, TrailDown (MAC 9c:8e:cd:2a:5f:4c, reserved...

Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

Gallium Nitride (GaN) power supplies can be dramatically smaller than older Silicon-based at the same power rating. But I don't think they'd be cost efficient for lower-priced applications like illuminators, at least not yet. But soon.

    BIG Owl on my Trail

Middle Coyote Missing Tail, 09/27/24 Three coyotes go by, and the middle one appears to have lost most of its tail. I cut out 18 seconds of dead air between the first and second coyote, but there was no edit between 2 and 3, so they're definitely all traveling together. We saw the family of...

Corrupt Files induce 90+% BI CPU Usage?

I had an interesting problem over the last 2 weeks. BI was consuming 90+ CPU any time I was viewing in Chrome, and playback was poor. Scrubbing resulted in 100% CPU and timeouts. I RDPed into the box, and was reporting similar usage, whether or not the BI console was running. So I disabled...

Corrupted Files Induce 90+% BI CPU Usage?

I had an interesting problem over the last 2 weeks. BI was consuming 90+ CPU any time I was viewing in Chrome, and playback was poor. I RDPed into the box, and was reporting similar usage, whether or not the BI console was running. So I disabled every single camera from the console, and the BI...

    Disk Full/Over-Allocated after power failure

Yeah, long overdue. I just purchased this basic $80 UPS for my BI server and disk box. My Kill-A-Watt shows that these two consume about 100 W, steady state, and APC estimates this will give me 23 minutes of run-time. This will handle most of our local outages, which tend to be in the << 5...

    BIG Owl on my Trail

Coyote Family of 5 on Thoroughbred Trail, 09/18/24 I see them run by in 1s and 2s literally every night, but I haven't seen them together like this in a few months. I see at least 5 distinct coyotes, but there might be 6. Hard to tell with them whirling around so much. This was over a 2.5...

How To Upgrade Amcrest / Lorex to Dahua Firmware And Get All Dahua Features

On behalf of The Internet I'd like to apologize in advance for the n00bs who will no doubt be blaming you for bricking their cameras. And a sincere Thank You for the rest of us who understand that you're just trying to help.

    Disk Full/Over-Allocated after power failure

BI 5.9.48/x64. OS and db on an internal SSD. New stored to 8500 GB of a 4-disk, 9.08 TB external Storage Space/JBOD over USB with daily compact/reindex: Normally this works fine, and my storage is nearly "full" (as reported by BI) with a buffer of ~400 GB of real empty disk space (as...

BI Computer, POE Switch, and Router at Remote Location?

Good idea. I haven't checked yet, but this is also a reasonably dense neighborhood with lots of poles, so I think I might even have a choice of ISPs. If yes, even if I can't get a "Unit 0" account, I can probably get an account in the name of Unit C and then have it billed to me. But I'll check...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Chimes arrived Monday. I plugged them both in, and pairing was quick and simple. Both are working. Props to Reolink to allow the pairing procedure entirely from within the app, e.g. I didn't have to walk outside to press the buttons!

BI Computer, POE Switch, and Router at Remote Location?

Upon second look, that's a i7-9700T. How much performance do I give up with a T processor? How would an 8-core, i7-9700T compare with the 4-core, i7-6700 that's running my 24 cameras at <<<20% CPU right now? This little computer would be running 8-10 cameras, max, at this remote location.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

BI can send focus in/out commands to my RLC-423, but the focus implementation is so bad, an the latency is so large, that it's effectively useless. So I "focus" my camera by hitting the Zoom in/out button for a quick click. This triggers another autofocus cycle, and that occasionally works.

    BIG Owl on my Trail

It does look like it, doesn’t it? But I live in suburban Los Angeles, and I’ve never heard of a ringtail being seen here. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen, though.

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

A huge part of my motivation for trying out the alternative chime was because Reolink wasn’t selling extra chimes separately. That problem appears to be fixed: https://www.amazon.com/Reolink-Chime-Compatible-Doorbell-Multiple/dp/B0CYGP6P1P it doesn’t specifically say 915 MHz, but it says it’s...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

Has anyone found a 3rd-party 915 MHz RF receiver that works with the Reolink WiFi doorbell? My experiment with the 1800Doorbells receiver was a failure.
