Hardware configuration for 4 camera unit

3 cameras, all hikvision. Looking to add a 4th camera soon. I'm unsure if they are recording direct to disk, I'll have to check. I thought 3.6Ghz was pretty fast when I bought it. What would be a better processor? How can I tell the speed? I always thought the higher the Ghz the better.

Hardware configuration for 4 camera unit

I have a Windows 7 machine with 8MB of RAM and a 3.6 Ghz CPU. It still doesn't seem to cut it. We are almost always seeing CPU usage at 100%. Is this not enough hardware? Or do I need to change some settings to ease up on my CPU? I have the cameras recording on motion and recording at 30fps.

Can not get web server to work when accessing over WAN

I can not seem to get my web server setup to access Blue Iris over the internet. I can access it via a web browser over the LAN but not WAN. I have forwarded port 90 to the computer that Blue Iris is running on and made all the correct settings in the Blue Iris software. I have been getting...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

I installed two of the cameras this weekend, we are still waiting on the electrician to run some conduit with Cat6 up the grain leg for the third camera and the antenna. We have a bunch of 3-phase running around the place so we want the Cat6 well protected. I attempted to assign static IPs to...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

Ok, so it sounds like it will be fine to have the router and switch at the grain bin site even after we beam internet up there from the house? Would I then plug the Ethernet cable from the antenna into the switch and not the router? Some of this is a little over my head, but I think I...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

I have another question on how to handle LAN traffic once we get these point-to-point antennas put in. My cameras and NVR will be at the grain storage location. I'm going to install a router and switch at the site. Once I install the point-to-point antennas to beam the signal will I be able...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

Thanks for the detailed help! I'll start digging into this in my free time and see what I can come up with. It's too late to get it going this year since we are already in the field. But that will give me another year to get it figured out.

    IP Camera set-up without internet

The winch wouldn't need to be too strong, maybe 1/5hp or so. We currently use a manual hand crank that can be easily cranked. I looked into the Arduino stuff, it looks pretty over my head, but may be a fun thing to learn. As of now I am completely lost with how to use it, but I see the...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

We are planning on pointing two cameras at the load out shoot, one on the white building under the eave and another on the bin pointing in the opposite direction. I'm using 3MP cams, so I should be able to grab a license plate and the person stealing grain would HAVE to drive under the load out...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

Thanks for the tips. Not sure if we will monitor the other bins or not. There is a house we rent right next to it that should deter most theft, but good to know there are options. Those Ubiquiti sensors look like what I'm looking for. I assume I need some kind of Ubiquiti software to get the...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

We looked into doing that, but we couldn't get enough storage on an SD card. We need to store footage for a week minimum, preferably two weeks. Just in case we are out of town for awhile or just don't notice the grain is gone. We also want to set this up so it is future-proof for when we get...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

Thanks for the links, Nayr. We plan on putting the point-to-point up in the spring after the crops are in.

    IP Camera set-up without internet

Thanks for the tips! Sounds easy enough! Thanks for the tips, Don. LOS won't a problem as we have a 75 foot high grain leg at each location to mount the antennas. I'll look into the need for a permit, but I'd bet the area we are in is so sparsely populated that it's unlikely a permit would...

    IP Camera set-up without internet

Thanks for the quick reply! I was hoping this would work, glad to hear from an expert that it will. I like the idea of no router and the static IPs. I assume it's easy to set up a static IP on the PC (Windows 7) and the cameras. Would that just be done in the network switch settings?

    IP Camera set-up without internet

Hoping someone can answer a quick question for me. I think I know the answer but want to make sure. Our family farm just built a new grain storage set-up about two miles from our main location. We want to set-up a security camera system with onsite video storage to prevent theft and catch...
