    Oops

Usually it isn't an issue, I just turned off notifications that night since we had been traveling for about 4 days, a combination of planes, trains and automobiles. We really needed a good nights sleep. Had I received a notification, I would have realized my wife was next to me and it wasn't...

    Oops

I record events 24x7, but I can easily have a couple hundred a day of useless videos of me smoking, cats, coyote, deer, etc. So I keep it clean on a regular basis. I have some old footage (50 or so clips) that I kept of actual criminals or suspicious activity. I was away for 2 weeks and we had a...

I tried that, it could recover the file but BI gave an error opening it. It was in the BVR format. Shows 26.9MB file with 00sec as the length.

    Oops

I saw a clip of someone walking on my front porch this morning around 1:30AM. I looked at it and thought it was my wife trying to cool off from hot flashes. Asked her why she went out and she said she didn't. So apparently it was someone on my porch about 15-20' from my bed. I had already...

Blue Iris for Larger systems - Server setup

You can get a multiple socket motherboard, some manufacturers like Supermicro support up to 4 CPU. A local vendor has the the dual socket version on their site to give you a reference. It will cost you a serious chunk of cash to build one of these though...

Recommendation for Wireless router / Bridge

For your bridge, I would use Engenius ENH500, you can get both radios for about $160 on newegg (they sell a 2 radio bundle http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833168114&cm_re=enh500-_-33-168-114-_-Product). I have a couple of their older enh202 for my in-house wireless. Both...

    Version 4.0.1.0 (January 25, 2015) d2d high cpu

Ken replied and said the issue would be fixed last night. It appears that 4.0.1.3 fixed it, back to normal. 40-50% cpu again.

I am on 4.0.1.1 and my cpu went from 45-55% to 65-75% with the last updates. I am on an i7 3770k with 16GB ram and a GTX550 Ti graphics card.

Chromecast Support Added to Android app 1.0.58

BI 4.0.0.21 x64 just crashed while casting (first attempt). I had an issue as the bottom of each feed was below the bottom of my TV screen. I saw a scroll bar on the right side, but there is no way to scroll up or down. Also, sound from 2 of my cams was on my phone, not the tv. I have a 60"...

Is the new BlueIris 4 worth the upgrade at this moment?

I held off until the .19 release (currently .21). So far it has been stable in my config. I went with the 64-bit version as I started to get out of memory errors when more than 3 or 4 cameras were triggered at a time.

Blue Iris 4 crashes every day

Look deeper, could be hardware related. Mainly memory or cpu as BI puts a load on both. Silly things like a cpu heatsink can cause issues.

Sounds like it isn't as much BI as it is the system. Windows logs will give you more info about the crash, I hope.

Light pole box cameras how do you power?

They have other devices that have gigabit ethernet, but I doubt in your case you will need more than 100mbps. This is a test I did across the link a while back. The traffic was my normal camera traffic, then the last part was my test. You can see the Current and Maximum inbound speeds for...

Light pole box cameras how do you power?

I had mine about 250' apart and they worked great. If you have them fairly well aligned, you can get 98mbps over the link. If you use both ethernet ports you can possibly get more.

Whats a good POE 8 port 1gb switch for hikvision cams?

I have a Zyxel ES-2108PWR. It has 8 10/100 PoE ports and 1x GigE uplink (copper or fiber). It is a managed switch, I found it for $100 as a refurb.

Critique my home security hardware choices! 6 PoE Cams, 1 NVR

The 2532 is a good option above a door, it is small and works well. Since you said there will be a light on, the limited IR on it won't be an issue. Also, having audio on the front door is nice.

Want to try a hikvision camera

I would do one of the turrets, they have fewer issues with spider webs than the bullets. The model is DS-2CD3332. They are outdoor cameras, but work well and not terribly expensive. I have 6 installed outside and have been happy with them.

Blue Iris Shuts Down Every Night

Logging is probably disabled then in BI. In the BI main window, look along the top and you will see an icon that is a square with 3 horizontal lines in it. Click on that and down bottom there is an option for logging.

Light pole box cameras how do you power?

If only 1 camera, you could get away with an injector. The EnGenius will need power as well via an injector. I can't remember, but I think the ENH has a lan port plus the power port, no power will pass to it though. You could have 2 outlets there and use one for the EnGenius and 1 for the...
