    Rebranded Hikvision?

This looks like a rebranded hikvision turret. Price is not bad for a US seller http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=110&cp_id=11006&cs_id=1100618&p_id=12463&seq=1&format=2&cl=res&utm_source=150911_email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=12463&utm_campaign=150911_friday

    Which Costco System?

For the cables, check cablesandkits.com, good prices most of the time. You can run one cable to the shop and then put a PoE switch there to connect the cameras. You can get an 8-port PoE switch for about $50.

Blue Iris no longer works on XP 32 bit after updating to 4.0.9.0 - please help

Try to manually run the full install package. I have seen this before and a full install has fixed it.

    Version 4.0.9!

Ok, I misread the info. Updated all the cams, my CPU is now at 35-42 vs 45-55. Would have sucked to have to manually update more than I had to do.

    Version 4.0.9!

One issue so far.. I used to set my cams (within BI) to 10fps (regardless of the actual camera settings) and it worked fine. Now, it is automatically pulling the settings from the camera it appears. All of my cams are now showing about 20fps and my cpu is at 100%. Also, the automatically adjust...

Blue Iris go in crash every time a windows updates are installed

I have noticed when I get the notifications tha MS updates (win7 pro) are available that BI will have a few crashes. I don't usually update every time, been burned on that one before.

Guide to selecting the right IP Cam

I prefer the turret (have 6 of them) and/or domes (1 currently) to bullets (1 currently). Bullets seem to have more issues with spider webs. I also have a 2532 (2 of them) above my front and rear patio door. It does a good job, since I have other cameras near the location, the IR from them helps...

Considering opening a shop to sell and install cameras

Thanks for the input.. I have done IT for Fortune 100 down to mom and pop shops (servers, desktops, networks, etc) for about 25 years. I know some can be unreasonable and others do things that shouldn't be done. An NVR is the safe bet from the support side.

Considering opening a shop to sell and install cameras

Good point, I would like the flexibility of mixing camera vendors though. That is a little tougher with the NVR route. For most installs, under 8 cameras, an i5/i7 Intel NUC or similar could be used and put next to a TV. Low power, not large and in the way. It could always be repurposed in the...

Considering opening a shop to sell and install cameras

I know several people here do this, is it a realistic business to consider? There was a small shop in my town that did low end cams a few years ago and they went out of business or moved. I am looking at selling Dahua and/or Hikvision (primarily) cameras and depending on the project BI will be...

    Hikvision Capture

There are parts of Detroit, NYC, Chicago or LA where it is much worse than the 4 out of 100,000. There are areas in SA where there is minimal crime. It is still not as safe as the US. I lived there 2002-2005 and have made several other vacation trips since 1993. It is getting worse over time...

    Hikvision Capture

There are a lot of reasons why people don't leave. Poverty, if they do have money, it is hard to get it out of the country due to exchange restrictions set by the reserve bank. Also, you have to be able to immigrate somewhere. My brother in-law waited 12 years to get a green card (my wife is...

    Random crashing

I am on 4.0.5.0 x64 version and the last 2 days BI has crashed, has anyone else been seeing this? If not, it might be my setup. I recently removed BI v3 from my system, wondering if some shared files were removed.

    Low Power Consumption PC-Based NVR?

    Low Power Consumption PC-Based NVR?

My PC with the dual monitors turned on runs about 200w (2A). It runs around 50% CPU utilization 24x7. I have a 256GB SSD for OS and a 1TB for storage locally. With the monitors off, it runs about 100w (1A). It is an i7 3770k, no overclocking. My media server (plex) in the basement is a Xeon E3...
