US : "We might have to consider giving up portions of Texas"

Good job on this. It's an example that narratives can be constructed to justify a desired point of view, I'm reminded of an instance many years ago when I was a T-ball coach. When I wasn't looking, one of my players hit another on the head with a bat. Sounds like a cut-and-dry good guy, bad...

    Question regarding NVR

I run an NVR and BI in parallel. All the cameras connect to the POE switch, the NVR connects to the POE switch, and the BI machine connects to the POE switch. The NVR and BI system are totally independent of each other.

Gunshots outside my house - On the news

Sharpstown. I lived there for a year in 1972-73, out of college working for TI in Stafford. I was in brand new 4-story Ranchester Apartments, which doesn't seem to exist anymore. Maybe in the way of the new tollway? . The new airport had just opened, and traffic anywhere around Houston was...

    Progressive Liberal Hypocrisy

Like so many other stats, the data was probably warped to fit the desired result, but for playing make believe that it's correct, it does say it's for "public schools". But nitpicking even deeper, it states the enrollment number was for public schools, and the other numbers were for...

    Get a dashcam. Period!

Many years ago I was rear-ended going 70 mph on the Autobahan. I saw the car approaching a couple of seconds before impact and floored the go pedal, which probably didn't actually help much. No debate about whose fault it was with the other driver admitting he was distracted. My car was a...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

He sometimes says something good and I tune him in when I get the chance. It's getting harder and harder to catch any good stuff. His show is ~50% commercials, then of what's left, a lot of that is promoting himself, one of his books, or his Fox show. Add to that he's simply a big a-hole who...

    Congrats SpaceX Dragon!

Those dolphins are space aliens and thought it was one of their supply ships. They get their stuff out then let the capsule sink to the bottom.

    MS strikes again

I'm running only 16 cameras on the NVR. I have BI running in parallel, using all of them. I've been fighting and/or tinkering with BI for about a year and it's running fairly well now, and I'm spoiled wanting to keep both of them going, needlessly putting more carbon in the atmosphere. Each...

I'm hoping for a 3rd way, that there's enough public outcry to force these corrupt judges back into their closets.

    MS strikes again

I know exactly what you're saying, and this is one of my big head-butting issues with the BI experts here. My career was in computer R&D and I 'm able to eventually learn what to do. It's just not where I want to spend my time and energy. Not intending to restart the debate, it's just that...

URGENT!!! There will be new DMSS 2.0 and new cloud account mode & new cloud video streaming

Is there a way to use this thing without creating an account? I thought the first few posts said there was a way, but I can't find it.

    Britain is Lost

About 10 years ago I snapped a picture of a building on downtown Chicago. A few people came running out of the building screaming we weren't allowed to take pictures of it and had to clear the area. Don't remember which building it was, near the Olgive transit center.

    Funny / Satire

^^^^^ When I was in college in the past century, my main prof predicted exactly this (without the "P" word) and I thought he was nuts. We were both private pilots and I also foo-fooed his prediction about everything moving to glass cockpits, as well terabyte memory. Now that I'm old I realize...

I look at the spot price, which to me is actual, vs. guesses with the future price. Spot is still under $3,000. My prediction, which you are free to follow knowing my history of buy high, sell low, is that the spot price will dance around $3,000 for a while yet, then might maybe have a clean...

My Dahua 5x42 S3 / T/B5xIR Related Bugs As Promised

I'm caught flatfooted responding to this. I'm not running AcuPick. I tried it when I first got the camera and for some reason it didn't work out for me. Trouble is, I forgot the reason.

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

I know I'm a broken record on this. The demp don't vote based on WHAT the issue is, but rather on WHO it's for. For most of the Trump things that the dems are screaming doom about, they'd be praising if Obama or Biden had wanted the same thing.

My Dahua 5x42 S3 / T/B5xIR Related Bugs As Promised

My S3 IVS triggered 40 times last night on this single strand of spider web, which includes the 2 white dots from IR reflection. Firmware is V3.142.15OG000.0.R, Build Date: 2024-05-16. The spider I realize IS an animal, but not the kind I'm looking for!

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

You're correct. I have 2 cars that have voice recognition, and that's part of the problem. It's hard enough to remember the proper vocabulary for even one of them, but for me anyway, learning two different command languages and not getting mixed up is close to impossible. It's hard enough to...

Empiretech T54IR-ZE S3 still on top?

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

Wow, it's even worse than I realized. I could write a mini novel about all the things that suck in our 2019 Subaru. Two of my "favorites" are that the radio crashes, and the dash display sometimes says to shut the engine off when it's not running. Without the screwed up tech, it's a good car.

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

This is an article about one of my hot points with the newer cars, EV or not. Last car I bought I purposely went to a last year's model to have real buttons for the climate controls instead of having to hit the right button on the touchscreen. I have 2 cars now where it's a pain in the ass to...

    Money & Economics

I been noticing the coordinated Trump doom messages from multiple media outlets. Yesterday it was Trump starting WW III, today it was Trump crashing the economy. Did the doom articles cause the downturn today? They were out long before the markets closed. Once you get the herd moving in one...
