Interesting.... Most opportunistic theives may not be in the right mind to be worrying about those things I suppose?

    Visible and hidden cameras

Hi everyone, I am very new here. It seems like you need visible cameras for deterring theives and hidden cameras to potentially ID them incase they decide to vandalise the visible cameras. I am on my way to installing the 2mp Starlights as the visible factor. I didn't read Cliff notes before...

Nice work. Any chance of catching them? Did you submit to police?

    Wall-Mounted Device

I reckon it's up to you and how much detail you want to see. You can get refurbished dell monitors for very little money these days, where I come from. (Australia) but in the USA it will probably be cheaper. For a home, I think it's intrusive to have large monitor with cameras etc but it's up...

    Wall-Mounted Device

Following.... It may depend on how much detail you want to see. If it's just a simple home application, 22 might be more than enough?

    Bicycle Thief

Thanks for sharing. I don't consider my cameras to be ID cams. I am only using them as deterrants. Most people's cameras are vulnerable to hoody or mask and their houses vulnerable to a single brick. I think yours are similar. Either consider more deterrents or maybe more cameras. While we all...

Wonder whether they'd give a add on board or something for existing NVR.... ;)

    Light as a deterrent

How do you find them during winter. I find that the batteries get fried after a winter and need replacing. I also find the Solar PIR lights in general to be flimsy etc and too weak most of the time. High maintenance is the correct word I suppose.

    Light as a deterrent

Makes sense. I will note this down when I make my choices for the cameras. So far I've chosen 4x Starlight ones - all 2mp, two of them have the double turrents with corridor mode for under the eave installs.

    Light as a deterrent

Noted. I will probably have to revise some of my light choices....especially in the back. Those lights fit the bill. With that night time robbery, were the owners inside? That's ones worst nightmare tbh. I'd rather be out if it has to happen.

    Light as a deterrent

No probs. Where I live, most options are LED by default. I have a DIY LED light system (12V DC) which comes on at night and slowly dims out as described above, using a simple LED dimmer. Floodlights with PIR are already LED. Wonder whether the camera can adjust quickly if the lights come on...

Integrating alarm with Phillips Hue - Genuine Reason

Sorry no idea bout your specific Q. could you hardwire something to the panel as separate trigger? I have considered this with a dog barking simulator.

    Light as a deterrent

Hi everyone, Wanted to hear your opinions on normal light as a deterrant to night time theft in a residential setting. My street is quite dark at night and no one has any outdoor lights on. Except me. I have a LED light system that dims until about 4am and then goes off depending on the season...

Hello everyone, [ Sorry topic meant to say IPcamtalk vs Dahua ] Is there a difference between these two camera types? They look remarkably similar? One if OEM for the other? Thanks.
