New Dahua Bullet PTZ - PTZ1C203UE-GN

Amusing that the sticker says 'don't move camera by hand' and in the video demonstration they move the camera by hand multiple times.

Updating camera config on multiple cameras via IP configtool??

Configtool has a feature to do that. I tend to not trust Configtool for advanced uses, though the recent release is an improvement. Probably worth trying to use. On the other hand, configuring your cameras by hand one at a time isn't all that time consuming. Once you do the same settings about...

    Milestone news June 2019

In other news, release notes of the latest Milestone release suggest that they have changed their licensing policy. Some multi-channel devices (i.e. multi-camera encoders) now require multiple licenses per device, rather than the old system of one license per device regardless of how many...

Troubleshooting poor image quality - frustrated.

Many posts, may have forgotten some info in them. Did you try setting the camera to output another stream format, like mjpeg or mpeg4? Both use far less CPU/GPU to render the video. You can also try turning down the resolution on the camera, again to lessen the load on the GPU/CPU. Also...

Troubleshooting poor image quality - frustrated.

Viewing cameras in Smart Client via a RDP session is a poor idea unless you have a restricted network limitation (i.e. VPN, proxy RDP over internet, VDI...). Frame skipping is basically a guaranteed sign of something being insufficient performance / bottlenecking the video...

    Corridor mode

I think the gist of it is: Physically rotate the camera 90 degrees so the wide sensor view is up/down. This would make your video look 90 degrees rotated. So you put it in Corridor mode, which changes the resolution i.e. from 1920x1080 to 1080x1920 with actual-up being video-up.

    Corridor mode

Yeah I think it just flips it 90 degrees. The concern I have it that many of the Dahua IR emitter layouts will end up with a emitter up in the circuit board area if it is a dome cam.

    Tariffs and Dahua

fenderman, don't you think it is hypocritical of you to denounce one report as being bought and paid for propaganda, but you have no qualms about claiming the 'Chinese government steals US Intellectual property?' How is the proof of the latter any more trustworthy than the former?

    Nosey neighbor cams

Walrus, I don't think it would, it would just create a little bright spot, and only if the emitter is located within the camera's field of view.

    3x2MP Multi-Sensor Network Camera+PTZ Camera PSDW5631S-B360

A screen capture video of someone using the web interface of this camera would answer a lot of questions. Also, will it appear as four cameras to the VMS? 2? 1? Depends on fisheye settings? Is the PTZ sensor used as in a seamless manner to improve the quality when a user digital zooms and...

    PTZ or no PTZ

The other thing to consider is that every PTZ model I've used, from various manufacturers, always has a fairly tight view angle (long focal length) even at its most zoomed out. It's probably equivalent to something like a 6mm minimum focal length, 50 degree horizontal FoV. That makes it tough...

    PTZ or no PTZ

PTZ only ever is a good choice if you have someone manning it on a regular basis. By that I mean, a person is going to log into the camera and operate the PTZ functions to accomplish some special tracking and monitoring task. If you just want cameras to see things and record things, it is...

16:9 is horrendous, please stop buying them

No, because if you mount a 16:9 camera in a 90 degree orientation it results in a 9:16, which is the 'vertical video' fail that was made fun of in the video. 16:9 has the same problem as 9:16, just in the other sense.

    Axis P1343 valuation?

Compared to price and features of a new camera, I would say around $5 each. Most of that value is as a learning tool for stress testing and configuration practice on your VMS.
