    US Elections (& Politics) :)

I'm starting smelling a backhanded deal between the parties. They bring up a vote on the Epstein files, and one party scuttles it. Then they bring it up again and the other party scuttles it. Then they all get to say "We voted to release the Epstein files, but the [Repubs, Dems] voted to...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

To me, that means more things are sent over the network(s), leading to more things that don't work right. I can site one example: In some newer Subarus, the power windows operate via network commands. When the battery runs down or is disconnected, the right passenger window switch doesn't work...

I'm thinking that the filibuster is good. We see how many things get reversed when the presidency changes, and it would only get worse if congress could reverse things when the party percentages change by only a point or two.

    Dahua repair in USA

If that's the original box for the camera, that's quite an inexcusable discrepancy for the power spec. I wonder if the intent was to show that the power brick got plugged into AC, and whoever did the graphic for the box didn't understand the details? Never should have left the factory that way...

All of the sprinkler controllers I've come across use a 24 vac supply, mostly plug-in transformers. Probably because the valves operate on 24 vac.

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

I was starting to think the same thing myself. For other than shutter speed, I don't think the numbers on the sliders have any defined value other than the position of the slider. I'm thinking the only way to make a good comparison is to ignore the numbers and tune each camera for its optimal...

This needs to be looked at with the current definition of antisemitism, which is questioning anything about Israel, even if you're correct.

    Money & Economics

We're just throwing opinions back and forth with no chance of proving them, and the number I'm calling this expert on is 300k, not 10k. For personal knowledge, I can say my wife and I are under 300k, plus 4 kids and 1 grandkid are under 300k, and 1 kid might be over 300k but I don't know that...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

When I replaced an S2 5442 with an S3, I thought there was a definite improvement in how it performed with IR lighting. I use external IR, so this does not reflect any differences in the built-in IR.

    Version 6 Beta

Assuming the beta is a reasonable prediction of what a real V6 will looks like, could somebody give a short big picture report of what it looks like and does compared to V5? What big differences will an "ordinary" user see?

I'm with this too, but none of the free stuff voters are, and we're greatly outnumbered. Plus most of the corporations will support helicopter money because the free stuff people will spend it right away, and the incumbent politicians will like it because the free stuff people will continue to...

Do you really believe that of those that hold stock market investments, more than half of them hold more than $300k? I don't, and I don't think it's even close to half.

    Money & Economics

"The median value of US consumers' stock market investments has surpassed $300,000 for the first time in history." Maybe I'm having a bad morning.? This strikes me as a totally nonsensical, meaningless statement. What's the definition of a US Consumer? Is this value for a single investment, or...

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

I had one motion comparison with the shutters both set at 1/250, but nothing else locked down (a cat walking through). My subjective judgement was that there was no difference between the 2 cameras in terms of motion blur. But if one was running more gain or other different exposure setting...

Here are the 54PRO and 5442 S2 3.6mm comparison pictures with only external IR lighting. 54PRO on the left. I did not have the exposure locked down. I have to admit this static picture looks better on the pro.

IR sensitivity differences between 5442-S3 and T54PRO-ZE ... puzzling results

I'm repeating a bit of an earlier post here. I ran a 3.6mm PRO next to a 3.6 5442 S2. My summary conclusion for IR sensitivity is that the PRO has a little bit of an edge overall. For instance, some darker areas are brighter in the PRO, but some small details are clearer in the 5442. I did...

"A new Fox News poll finds 70% of Americans say groceries are more expensive now than they were a year ago. 60% of respondents say they blame Trump." Well doggone it, MY truthful and reliable news source says otherwise. "President Donald J. Trump is making good on his pledge to drive down...

Even though it was thrown at point-blank range! Looks like it's open season to throw sandwiches at people in DC. Good timing, actually, with SNAP cut off. "Lairmore said he "could feel it through his ballistic vest" and it "exploded all over" him. He said he "could smell the onions and...

    Kentucky UPS Jet crash....

I both agree and disagree with this. Yes some of the people screw up where they live, leave after they see the result, then go on to screw up where they go to. On the other hand, there are some trapped in New York who are totally blameless in what has happened to it. Innocent victims. I'm...
