In 39 years, my concealed carry pistol has “gone” off…

Ahem...you might want to check your thread title and add the word "not" to clarify.

OK, I have been very successfully running the CPAI version 1.6.7 for a few months now on a "CPU only" (i5-8500) system, but am a bit hesitant to upgrade to the newer 2.0.x versions, partly due to my general confusion over which modules I would want to run. My current CPAI only loads the "Object...

Do they make a 2 or even 3 port PCI NIC card? Or is better to go for PCI#1 NIC and PCI#2 NIC?

Fully agree with @IAmATeaf , and just wanted to add one more "hint": look for an Intel based card, try to skip the others (Reaktek, etc..). That is, if you want a rock solid, trouble-free experience, with stable drivers, etc.

Constantly seeing no alerts in database - even after restoring via 'repair/regenerate'

I'm also seeing frequent DB errors on 5.6.7x and 5.6.8.x, even shortly after a full Repair/Regenerate procedure. I know it was a "one time" issue several releases back (two or three months ago), but it's annoying that it has regressed again and become seeminly more severe this time around. What...

You may have pulled the trigger on upgrading the Docker version too soon, see this post from @MikeLud1 : https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/5-5-8-june-13-2022-code-project%E2%80%99s-senseai.63895/post-733222 As far as I can tell, unless you are part of the inside Beta testing team, we are advised to...

    Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras

The problem is that having the checkboxes for human and vehicle detection raises the expectation that if they are unchecked, the AI will function in a manner that allows for other (ie: animal) movement detection. If they don't make any difference (which seems to be the case), they should be...

Awesome, but I'm curious: are you running a Docker version? I still don't see any new 2.x.x series version available with a Windows installer here on their main site, only the 1.6.8 that has been available for many weeks...

    Blue Iris UI3

Ok, my bad, the "skip dead-air" was inadvertently turned on in UI3 settings. Head hung in shame for the dumb question, but thanks for the quick reply.

    Blue Iris UI3

I'm on latest B.I. 5.6.6.0, and UI3 is acting a little odd on mobile devices recently: I just noticed today that timeline view always wants to jump to the nearest alert after scrolling the timeline. It will not allow me to continue playback from any arbitrary position on the timeline. This...

Yeah, I have been seeing and counting on the "official" $59.99 price (on the main Google Coral website) for the last several weeks, but then realized that that green "Buy" button isn't a direct purchase button: it then shows several companies to buy from, but essentially all of them are either...

BI crashing when webserver is viewed

Not sure if this applies, it could be related to the fix that was just implemented yesterday (last two sentences in this post): https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/5-6-5-november-18-2022.66859/post-719487

    No Signal issue

Exactly what version of BI5 are you on? I ask because I also suffered with this issue for a period of time corresponding to the releases from roughly mid-September through late October. I chased it many ways on both the hardware and cabling side as well as looking for a software explanation, but...

    Windows 11 Remote Desktop Issues

At that point, after re-installing Windows 10, why on earth would you bother putting Windows 11 on it? Virtually every person who has tried to run BI on a Windows 11 machine has had one sort or problem or other (yourself included). Leave it on 10, there is nothing all that compelling about Win11...

BlueIris Help file (BlueIris.pdf), difference thread?

I should have known that one of our esteemed IPCamTalk script masters would have automated this process: Thank you. I'm so glad that I'm not the only person to have pondered this somewhat roundabout way of compiling changes. Have you brought this up before? I'm still trying to figure out...

BlueIris Help file (BlueIris.pdf), difference thread?

My point was that the info is often added to the help file (and quickly, I might add): but unless we, as users, are regularly re-reading the help file with virtually every point release (which I know isn't going to happen), the new features/tweaks/fixes will be undiscovered for long periods of...

BlueIris Help file (BlueIris.pdf), difference thread?

Thanks, but I am already aware of those options. It's fairly easy to find information on what are considered big changes, it's the smaller ones (that can be surprisingly useful) that are less well documented. For example, I recently wrote to Ken suggesting an additional tweak to the Alert...

BlueIris Help file (BlueIris.pdf), difference thread?

About a year ago, when I was first studying this site, I believe I ran across a thread that covered the specific changes or differences in the BI help file across every release. I've been searching for it today and can't seem to find it again. Am I just imagining that a thread like this existed...

24 port switch, unmanaged for cameras only 300w / who has the best? budget 300.00

Just wanted to add: this is not an exaggeration at all, and if you are using enough electricity to be bumped into "Tier 2" rates (most people do, for at least some of their usage), it could be up to $240 per year, just having this switch plugged in (not counting cameras). I don't mind paying...

Blue Iris AI Status window always empty

The lower left corner shows the current running number of AI analyses that have happened since restarting BI last, as well as average processing time. Otherwise, in order to get a "filled-in" page here, you need to Ctrl.-click on an Alert, this will open the page with the full stats on that...

24 port switch, unmanaged for cameras only 300w / who has the best? budget 300.00

I agree, my switch is the smallest HP 2530, (8) 10/100 Ports, (2) Gb uplink ports, internal power supply version, and no fan. It only draws 5.3W at idle. Perfect for my needs at the moment, but if I need something larger, I'd get a newer Netgear GS316EPP.

24 port switch, unmanaged for cameras only 300w / who has the best? budget 300.00

I would also argue that a large part of the appeal of something like some of the newer "prosumer" Netgear switches is also the far lower standby power use and zero noise. Most of the big used enterprise switches tend to have very loud fans, as well as "idle" (before plugging any devices in)...

24 port switch, unmanaged for cameras only 300w / who has the best? budget 300.00

Hey, I was just noting what that listing specifically pointed out, I didn't expect a full rack sized enterprise switch to use a wall wart/power brick.

IPVM Releases Phone Version of Calculator

Yeah, I have to agree that a one minute timout is essentially useless. That is simply not enough time to enter all the parameters in most (if not all) cases. It was good while it lasted, but it's hard to see this as a welcome development. The increase in visits is likely due to a bump in the...

Cabling: Tools rough draft #1. Opinions/Suggestions desired.

Small error correction suggestion: Er, that would be at least a 1/4" hole (or really 5/16" to make it easily) for any Cat6 cable, not 1/8". Even with an end on it, it generally needs more than a 1/2" hole, 9/16" minimum. Minor quibbles, otherwise awesome work putting this together, really well...

    Opinions on female-female RJ45 connectors

True, but by definition a "patch cable" is always supposed to be stranded cable, whereas permanent links should use solid cable. The article starts by saying "situation when you have two short Ethernet patch cables and need to make a single longer one".

    Opinions on female-female RJ45 connectors

It seems that the real answer is "it depends": it is best practice to avoid these inline couplers if at all possible, but you can probably get away with one (or at most two), with enough added precautions thrown in as well (dielectric grease, shrink tube, etc...). This blog article article on...

    Is Pushover down?

I'm not too worked up over this (especially considering the extremely low, one-time cost of the service), and in a sense, it's true that the system didn't completely go down: alerts still came across, but were missing the handy photo. Oh well, s#@& happens.
