@MikeLud1 I mentioned in another thread about the OCR being less accurate than Plate Recognizer... just wanted to mention that was with medium. After switching to high, it's at least on par with the online service. Not sure if you still planned on improving OCR, but it's fine on my end now... -

On my system with 2.0.7 (not beta) and BI 5.6.9.4, the cpai server was already configured with automatic startup by default. I went and unchecked startup with BI in BI settings, rebooted, and now am having a worse problem. BI is not communicating with either of the started modules, and stop... -

Yes, the db6i allows moving overlays around... It depends... the db6i is wifi, and does not have the same level of control over exposure settings, 3dnr, etc that dome/turrets have. So all else equal, the db6i is overall not as good a camera, period. By all else equal, I mean assuming doorbell... -

Well that didn't last long. Clearing out "Mark as vehicle" worked for my non-vehicle cameras, getting consistent 80msec makes with just ipcam-combined. Then minutes later I upgraded to the latest BI (5.6.9.3 from 5.6.9.2), and now the non-vehicle camera ai details are showing plates again... -

Awesome Mike... do you have a coffee link or similar? I owe you. I still have one camera that needs to find vehicles but not plates, but it made no sense for several of my cams to have vehicle marking. WRT changes being made... it would be ideal if lpr cameras don't use lpr ai unless they find... -

Hmm I thought GPU was just for cuda, not intel... but idk. Before I had a gpu I ran cpai with cpu, and it was decent (not too hard on the cpu, make times ~3x longer than with cuda... 200msec which is OK for most small/medium homes I think). -

OK, just rebooted and took more careful notes. Here's precisely what's happening now. After rebooting the cp shows 2 green bars. So both modules are running (explorer test shows they work as well). However when cameras are triggered, AI acts funky. I get 2msec makes and always nothing found... -

One more observation/issue... despite having Auto start/stop with BI checked, BI does not appear to be starting the license plate reader module after a reboot. In fact, 3 reboots in a row and AI would not work at all until I went in and manually started the license plate reader from the control... -

Before enabling the new lpr integration, ipcam-combined and license-plate took ~80msec, with little variation. If you follow best practice mentioned a few times above (block or drop outbound connections), things like DMSS likely will not work, or at least not without complicated networking workarounds. One more quick question... is installing the OCR module itself required for lpr to work? I have run lpr with ocr installed the whole time, and it works fine even with the ocr stopped. I am hesitant to test uninstalling ocr without asking first. I know... I'm trying to fix what ain't broke. -
