    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

FWIW, it appears as is the lpr will stop processing images once it has a plate with sufficient confidence, regardless if it's a whole plate etc. Since there will be some work on this end... I was just reading up on how openalpr processes images, using state plate patterns to help filtering... it...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

@MikeLud1 I mentioned in another thread about the OCR being less accurate than Plate Recognizer... just wanted to mention that was with medium. After switching to high, it's at least on par with the online service. Not sure if you still planned on improving OCR, but it's fine on my end now...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

On my system with 2.0.7 (not beta) and BI 5.6.9.4, the cpai server was already configured with automatic startup by default. I went and unchecked startup with BI in BI settings, rebooted, and now am having a worse problem. BI is not communicating with either of the started modules, and stop...

    Blue Iris and CodeProject.AI ALPR

Yes, it would be nice to have some search and filtering features that are convenient to use within BI. It would be a lot of work/resources to integrate it in a way that is useful to everyone though. Not sure what that would look like... guessing another tab in the BI app, that shows potential...

    Review-Dahua/EmpireTech new doorbell cam Db6l 5mp

Speaking of phoning home... I took part in a discussion about this in another thread, but I think this should go here as well. This db6i will constantly phone home even if you don't use dmss and have p2p turned off in the camera settings. So if you have this doorbell or plan to get one, you may...

    Review-Dahua/EmpireTech new doorbell cam Db6l 5mp

Yes, the db6i allows moving overlays around... It depends... the db6i is wifi, and does not have the same level of control over exposure settings, 3dnr, etc that dome/turrets have. So all else equal, the db6i is overall not as good a camera, period. By all else equal, I mean assuming doorbell...

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

Well that didn't last long. Clearing out "Mark as vehicle" worked for my non-vehicle cameras, getting consistent 80msec makes with just ipcam-combined. Then minutes later I upgraded to the latest BI (5.6.9.3 from 5.6.9.2), and now the non-vehicle camera ai details are showing plates again...

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

Awesome Mike... do you have a coffee link or similar? I owe you. I still have one camera that needs to find vehicles but not plates, but it made no sense for several of my cams to have vehicle marking. WRT changes being made... it would be ideal if lpr cameras don't use lpr ai unless they find...

    CodeProject.AI Version 2.0

Hmm I thought GPU was just for cuda, not intel... but idk. Before I had a gpu I ran cpai with cpu, and it was decent (not too hard on the cpu, make times ~3x longer than with cuda... 200msec which is OK for most small/medium homes I think).

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

OK that makes more sense. Is there or will there be a way to make it so non-lpr cameras do not run through the lpr module? I'm OK with it slowing makes for the lpr, but seems less than ideal that it is applied to all cameras. I figure the lpr module should only be used on cameras that are using...

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

OK, just rebooted and took more careful notes. Here's precisely what's happening now. After rebooting the cp shows 2 green bars. So both modules are running (explorer test shows they work as well). However when cameras are triggered, AI acts funky. I get 2msec makes and always nothing found...

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

One more observation/issue... despite having Auto start/stop with BI checked, BI does not appear to be starting the license plate reader module after a reboot. In fact, 3 reboots in a row and AI would not work at all until I went in and manually started the license plate reader from the control...

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

After running this for a bit, it doesn't seem like my make times are going down appreciably. Before enabling the new lpr integration, ipcam-combined and license-plate took ~80msec, with little variation. With the new lpr integration running, I still see an occasional 80msec make, but the average...

Disabling P2P on Dahua cameras only temporary. Reactivates and my pihole shows over 1 million attempts to access: devaccess.easy4ipcloud.com in a day

If you follow best practice mentioned a few times above (block or drop outbound connections), things like DMSS likely will not work, or at least not without complicated networking workarounds. Since you use a VPN to connect remotely, there's no reason to allow outside connections from the dvr or...

Disabling P2P on Dahua cameras only temporary. Reactivates and my pihole shows over 1 million attempts to access: devaccess.easy4ipcloud.com in a day

I have to thank you all for posting about this. I have cameras and iot confined to a range of ip's, and that range has a script that sets up iptable drop for any outside requests (no chance to phone home). Normally logs stay mostly quiet and network stays happy this way. After reading this, I...

Thanks for the super quick response. [edit... your second reply is very insightful, thanks again!] Also just wanted to pass along a minor bug I found... BI alerts appear to be multiplying confidence by 100. For example it shows 9100.0% on an AI alert, where ai details show 91.0%. Guessing the...

One more quick question... is installing the OCR module itself required for lpr to work? I have run lpr with ocr installed the whole time, and it works fine even with the ocr stopped. I am hesitant to test uninstalling ocr without asking first. I know... I'm trying to fix what ain't broke.

That is great to hear Mike! I appreciate your hard work on these things. The current performance is promising and adequate, with room for improvement. I'm more than happy to have some typos for now, with the huge benefit of zero net access requirement for my cam system (online alpr was the sole...

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

I already had cpai 2.0.6 and the lpr module installed and working before updating BI to the latest with the lpr integration. It didn't go perfectly smoothly for me. After enabling the "ALPR for plates" (the new integration), AI wasn't working and BI got funky on my (triggered cameras froze...

You may be able to achieve similar with CPAI by increasing the number of "+ real-time images" in camera AI settings, and/or decreasing "analyze one each". The post trigger real-time images controls how many images BI will send to AI for recognition, and analyze one each controls the time between...

    Blue Iris and DeepStack ALPR

Yes I understand; I plan on sticking with the existing online ALPR integration for now, and look forward to the BI integration whenever it is ready. I was just curious and wanted to do some testing to see how well it performs, and give feedback on any problems that may show up. Test image 10 has...

I installed 2.0.6, but not sure if something went wrong. I don't have any license plate reader in my dashboard. I read something in the release notes about the ability to add modules from the dashboard at runtime, but not seeing how that is done. Is there something I'm missing?

xiongmaitech new version AI camera defect

I agree they are all made in the same country, but they are not all the same. It is hard if not impossible to determine which products are good and which vendors are accountable without referring to reliable testing/experience though. That is why I wrote the last part…

"Stream Smooth" setting on Dahua cameras?

Does anyone know what this "Stream Smooth" setting does? I tried googling for it, and I get mostly info regarding substreams. It appears configured with a default value of 10. AFAIK it's a newer feature, or at least I don't remember seeing it until I recently upgraded firmware on all my...

xiongmaitech new version AI camera defect

No I do not have that kind of problem now, but I have in the past. My solution is usually the garbage can, and not buying scammy stuff like one off fly by night brands from over seas, especially if they aren't verified by a community that I can trust.

    Beginners guide to CodeProject

Having setup CPAI twice recently, once with CPU and once with CUDA, I have to say that guide page is not much of a beginners guide. There's lots of info on compiling and working on internals, which is hardly newb material. The closest thing might be the link to that wyze cam walkthrough, but...
