City upgraded to LED street lights

The tract was built in the late 60's and the lights were probably just as old. They were very dim and orange-ish. The new LEDs are much brighter and probably 4000-5000k. The light is on the pole in the front yard. The difference isn't as dramatic in B&W mode as it is in color.

I blame the hippies. It all went downhill with them.

Do you use anchor on wood wall?

Pre-drill the proper size hole and the screw will bite and hold way more than you need.

Do you use anchor on wood wall?

Yes, you use them in drywall and plaster too. They have similar properties to other stone/masonry materials. That is, they're brittle, turn to dust and don't give the threads of a typical screw anything to bite into. I have used Tapcons for going directly into mortar but that's a special product...

Do you use anchor on wood wall?

Plastic anchors are for material like stucco or brick. Use wood screws on wood, not sheet metal screws. Pre-drilling the holes will make running the screws in easier.

And if they tried, they'd be banished to the desert, forest, tundra, etc or worse when the group got tired of their BS.

    New Ring Alarm System 199

I have a "windy" profile in BI that increases the make time and the distance an object must travel which really helps.

    remote monitoring

Don't use a laptop for a production BI machine. They use slower CPUs and don't dissipate heat as well as a desktop. You also want your storage to be local, SATA preferred. Video is far more sensitive to any system lag or glitches than just about any other application.

    remote monitoring

Aside from the cost (which I feel is too high) Surveillance station just isn't that great. I have a Synology and toyed with the idea of using it too, but ditched it. Blue Iris runs circled around it, eats its lunch, and f**ks its wife. I got a 6th gen i5 Dell Optiplex for about $300 for Blue...

    remote monitoring

Blue Iris for recording + ngrok.com for remote access is the easiest. You can also setup a VPN but its more steps to get connected on mobile. All of the Edgerouters support a VPN.

    Daylight savings time?

Look around in the camera's web UI. For Dahua, its under Setting, System, General, Date&Time.

    Neightbor Being Hazed With Tortillas

You need big pixels to have good night vision. That means less pixels on a bigger sensor. A long zoom lens more than makes up for the lower pixel density.

    Neightbor Being Hazed With Tortillas

That big sensor really keeps the noise down. I have Dahua starlights on the front but they don't look nearly as clean.

    Neightbor Being Hazed With Tortillas

Same. Probably the overexposure made everything look white.

Yes, but also being California, they could get charged with cultural appropriation and various hate crimes.

Help a newb with camera network questions.

You can't plug a camera using 10.1.1.65 into a 192.168.20.0 network and have it communicate unless you have a router between them. I believe an NVR will find cameras on its LAN interface as long as they're on the same IP subnet.

Has anyone set up their cam in portrait mode? Are there any drawbacks?

I have three setup that way because it fits the area I'm trying to cover. The only downside is that you can't see it full screen pixel for pixel on a wide screen monitor.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDBW4231F-E2-M Dual Starlight Cam

Yes, the area below the light will give you the best face views. You'd have to play with the placement as a small adjustment can make a big difference in glare from the light. When installing my door camera, I found less glare with the camera mounted facing the light than I got with the camera...
