Been a year and a half- have you bought this? If so, how's it been for you?

Roger that. I must have missed your saying there was no software solution.

Software for NAS playback of HK/DH cameras

I know you are a huge contributor here and considered one of the experts supporting people. I thus value youy advice, but I think I'm not explaining well enough so please give me another moment to try. Looking at the softwares and hardware requirements for blue Iris, and reading about how...

Software for NAS playback of HK/DH cameras

How? NVR? Looking at some of those blue iris specs, an i7 running multiple streams isn't going to pull just 35W. Heck, even the lowest of the low power firewall I've setup is down around 15W- throwing in a couple of spinning disks is another 5 to 8 watts each, and spinning them down causes far...

Software for NAS playback of HK/DH cameras

I have my HikVision and Dahua cameras setup to write to an external NAS. The videos play pretty easily inside their browser but, obviously, the interface... stinks. Is there another software application that does this easier/seamlessly? I'm not running BlueIris or any other packages- I'd...

Freenas Hikvision Dahua external storage setup scripts

Boy did I get all those search terms ? Right now I'm just screwing around with performance for a half dozen cameras (1080 to 4k). I think I've finally figured out how to get them to mount (map root/map wheel), then manually set the quota for all four (in my case, 200gb). Name each share 'cam1...

    FYI - LeChange / Dahua 8x 8MP/4K UHD IP PoE cameras + 16 channel port PoE NVR 2/3TB HDD $899 7/13/18

In general, unless active measures are taken, security is the last thing people think about when making an off-brand product. Think back to when FLIR released their hackable camera- it wasn't until WAY LATE in the game did they decide to start putting out certificates and signed firmware. Even...

    Dead PoE on HDW5231R-ZE

I was searching for them, but didn't occur to me to type in the standard (802 af, etc). Whoops.

    Dead PoE on HDW5231R-ZE

I've taken a couple of the dahua POE units apart and they are totally replaceable. Assuming you can get the part, it seems pretty standard. Heck, you could probably take it apart and see if it's one of the protection diodes that blew.

    HFW4431R - adding a MicroSD card?

Well, that's the problem- I need to know what caps and resistors to solder in on the backside to handle the signal and bring power to the sdcard. Hrmmm...

Dahua Firmware Mod Kit + Modded Dahua Firmware

Just did the same; searching for the mount commands to see if there's a resistor or diode I needed to add.

    HFW4431R - adding a MicroSD card?

Soldered up the card. Firmware doesn't have the code to look for it so I think I'll be having to find another firmware version

    HFW4431R - adding a MicroSD card?

Ordered the wrong microSD card adapter. Right one is to I beibeli. http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/1865996.pdf?_ga=2.161182580.897575034.1527611142-1292006722.1527611142

    HFW4431R - adding a MicroSD card?

Usually it's this simple .It takes a lot of effort to compile out code as it's much easier to see a resistor as a bit. What other cameras are based on this board? That will tell me where to search. As it is the camera doesn't have the reach I needed to do lpr on the entryway to the circle.

    HFW4431R - adding a MicroSD card?

Was getting ready to mount this camera from XinRay and thought to open it up- check the desiccant, etc. On the top of the PCB though there is the familiar Micro-SD shape and pinout, and it got me wondering if I could add one. Most of the components necessary are present (some caps aren't, but...

just checking Dell OptiPlex 5040 desktop Quad Core i5-6600 3.3GHz 8GB

One of the 8 way opterons ? Yeah it'll be lower power. Figure 5 watts per stick of ram. 8 watts per hd. 35 watts+ avg load on CPU. Board will take 10. You can tweak that down. If it's under heavy load though it'll be higher to the tdp for the chip

    WD Purple 5400 or 7200

I think the concern on PC drives was the load/unload. I bought a bunch of greens way back and misused them in devices like this. They hit pre fail very quickly. Allegedly there were firmware hacks to change the color of the drive but I never ventured there.

just checking Dell OptiPlex 5040 desktop Quad Core i5-6600 3.3GHz 8GB

Lower power consumption as compared to what? If you have a system right now what's your kill-a-watt readings at the wall?

    20 8MP cams for 30 days

You got it. I figured it wasn't worth going into all the specifics. But it's good to know there's people out there that... Think retail price is the installed system price.
