Thanks for the response. Trying to put my arms around if even having a SD card is necessary. The cameras without are less expensive as well as the 128gb cards cost. My old cameras are 7-10 days of recording which I considered useful. M -

Looking at a 4MP Hikvision camera setups. Max SD size is 128 GB. H264 encoding. Realistically how many hours before over writing starts say with 15-20fps. In general terms, I know scene and lighting contribute. Thanks M -

The Cisco router is managing internet traffic. Never had any alerts since system was setup. This is VERY strange as all my other cameras use NTP = time.nist.gov port = 123. I just tested it on an extra camera I have and it worked perfectly. Tried updating the firmware. no glory. M -

Connected thru a Cisco GB Switch and a Cisco GB Router just like the rest of the devices. (security system, Thermostat etc...) I have a NVR also hooked up to the same Switch and it syncs its NPT time every 3 hours. Thanks for the responses :-) M -

I set up all kinds of devices in our home using "time.nist.gov" on port 123. Hikvision just gives me test failed. Sorry for such a simple time but I'm stumped. M -

Been studying. I am thinking I like the turret over the dome, but until tonights test of the 4MP FWD dome the jury is still out. I really want audio which is the biggest Con to the 4mp Turret FWD IMHO. Still have to get my arms around the "fisheye effect" of the 2.8 and the 4mm. See photo of... -

So far my camera system video has been used by law enforcement convictions in 2 cases. I would not be able to show those 2 but basically we had a group of teens that park at the end of street and try every vehicle for valuables and their garage openers.
