Obviously GPU support is brand new, but I see it specifically states support for Nvidia GPUs. Are there plans on supporting integrated Intel GPUs? Should I add an Nvidia card to my new BI PC? FWIW, I did not cheap on my CPU: PassMark - Intel Core i5-12600K - Price performance comparison

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

I think for now I'm going to order the following as starter cameras: (2) IPC-T5442T-ZE, (1) IPC-B5442E-Z4E and (1) HFW5241E-Z12E. Get a good feel for what they look like and I can always relocate them later if I find they'll be better suited elsewhere. Couple final questions... 1. I see...

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

Any reason to use a vpn router over just installing a vpn server on the BI PC? Fwiw, having set up both OpenVPN and Wireguard vpn servers, Wireguard is so much less complicated and just works. I had Wireguard setup in like 5 minutes, OpenVPN took me like 3 days of struggling with iptables lol...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Damn lol, of course that makes sense....does increase the work though a bit haha How many of the surge suppressors would I need? 1 for every camera I assume? because 1 in between the switch and the PC would leave all the cameras and the switch vulnerable?

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

That makes sense. So how are the cameras viewable via BI? Are they only viewable on the BI PC? There's no secure way of viewing them from any device on the LAN?

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Thank you, that's all stuff I was concerned about lol. And you went with conduit even with the direct burial cat6, huh? The run would be next a pond where the ground gets very wet. I bought gel-filled DB cat6 from TrueCable, hoping that would be sufficient, but maybe I should run it in conduit...

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

Not having setup my cameras or installed BI yet I'm having difficulty understanding what's capable and secure... I'd like to be able to view my camera feeds from any device on my LAN but obviously not expose them to the internet (some of the Amazon reviews mentioning the cameras calling home...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

What's my best option for a waterproof mount to a tree? I'm planning on direct burying Cat6 and then running a length conduit/flex-conduit out of the ground, up the tree. The PFA130-E junction box seems like an easy waterproofing option, although turret camera will have to mounted horizontally...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Ah, I had see the info @sebastiantombs posted in his thread with lots of reviews but didn't understand it in the context of 5442 vs 2231 cameras, thank you for the ELI5 version! That actually makes a lot of sense....... lol ty Thanks! And that sounds like a great idea, ty for the suggestion...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

So for these distances, it looks like I should just buy a bunch of these cameras? Loryta IPC-T5442T-ZE Varifocal 4MP I see I'm "not supposed to chase MPs", but if the 5442's have better low light performance and AI features, is there a reason to go with 3241s or 2231s? I saw 2MP should have...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Lol my dad has a small excavator, I'm not sure if he has a trench-width bucket, but we'll figured something out...That's probably my mom's biggest concern with this project :lmao: According to that IPVM calculator (if that can be trusted) the furthest camera is 280'.

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Thank you both for the info...Using the IPVM Calculator I came up with the following distances. I think this is a nice start lol. Will probably add a doorbell cam... Driveway 30' Apple Tree #1 30' Apple Tree #2 35' Log Bridge 10' Pond 60' Swamp 35' Barn #1...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Alright, thanks to the list from @Sybertiger and stickied Newbie Starter Guide I have server parts, a PoE switch, and bulk CAT6 cable picked (the easy stuff for me lol). The final piece are the cameras. I looked at 5442 reviews and they all kind of look the same to me o_O. Lol is there any...

Haha  Do you have any other information on those cameras? Or a good place to read up on them? (Obviously I'm going to google them now). I'm guessing by your suggestion, they should fit most of my needs? Lol the couple of times I've been on aliexpress, I've been overwhelmed by the pop...

Suggestions for a "trail cam" camera system?

Hi, I'm looking for advice on a good camera system to be used as trail cams? My mom has a bunch of battery operated-sd card trail cams set up on her property to capture all sorts of wildlife that walks through (bears, deer, beavers, turtles, lots of birds, etc.). But they're battery operated...
