@TheWaterbug, as others have suggested, you need much higher shutter speed... like 1/1000 minimum. Your FOV is also much wider than necessary, and wastes pixels that could be better used on the plate. If you don't have varifocal, most fixed cams can be modified with different lenses for more... -

Yeah 250msec is about right for cpu... that's what I was getting with intel 3570 anyways. That 1030 gpu does look solid... 384 cuda cores and 30W. That beats my p400 with 256 cores and 30W, which does about 13.0 ops/sec (~70-80msec makes... recently purchased used on ebay for $75). GPU does help... -

I'm pretty sure the main motivation for cpai lpr is to get lpr completely local, without online subscriptions etc. So it would be a 180 if that changed. Also CPAI and the models I believe are all open source. So we probably won't see that side of the code pry any $ from our wallets. BI is... -

Since we are venturing OT, I will add that running a vpn server for remote access to BI (and/or other lan resources) is best practice for security. Port forwarding opens up your network to many security issues... this is perhaps the #1 reason for there being so many open streams available at shodan. -

FWIW, it appears as is the lpr will stop processing images once it has a plate with sufficient confidence, regardless if it's a whole plate etc. Since there will be some work on this end... I was just reading up on how openalpr processes images, using state plate patterns to help filtering... it... -

@MikeLud1 I mentioned in another thread about the OCR being less accurate than Plate Recognizer... just wanted to mention that was with medium. After switching to high, it's at least on par with the online service. Not sure if you still planned on improving OCR, but it's fine on my end now...
