    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Don't say that too loud, I just ordered 4 bullets and now wishing I'd got two of each! banking on the Pro IR being a bit beefier but in my heart I know the 4x will probably win. Does anyone know how many IR's are on the Pro's looks like 4x with LED and IR in each? ie multi?!?

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

The light levels on the Pro in both B&W and colour look way off, hope this is a bug, surely it cannot be this bad, there is another video posted on Andy's channel which shows the Pro looking as expected in B&W and colour mode with little to no ambient light.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

This looks quite comparable to me, pretty damn close depending on settings for shutter speed etc.

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

That is true, have used them in the past for older cameras, nice to get all in one solution with the camera itself. One reason I like the bullet models with the 4 IR lamps, had hopes the Pro would bridge the gap but that seems mixed at this point.

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

I have been nothing but impressed with the original 5442 cameras so can imagine the S3 variant is quite something if it improves on these!

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Yes, I think that will turn out to be true for me. Ah well, I picked up a couple of the Pro models which of course will be an upgrade from the 2MP existing units. My theory was they would have more IR power than equivalent 5442 and the potential to use the LED also. With that being said, if...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Appreciate clarification, you gave the 54Pro the best chance :blankstare: - lets hope firmware comes to the rescue then. My use case tends to push these cameras to the limit and beyond in some locations at least, never enough IR power, nothing a few thousand lumens doesn't put right but this is...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Yes, that is a bit concerning, I have gambled a bit on these, wonder if this is due to them trying too much with the Pro models. IR only or Colour only may be much easier to nail down quality wise? The video above seemed pretty good to me all be it the shutter speed would need to be higher...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Also meant to say had not forgotten @bigredfish recommendation for 3449Pro which may well get picked up later this year! videos greatly appreciated as well :thumb:

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Well for better or worse I have 5442 S3 and 54Pro ZE ordered for testing, hoping the firmware works itself out for the latter. Really needed black in the Pro but will get the rattle can out and prep it well before applying. I am very methodical with testing and my end goal is high quality frozen...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Thank you all for the replies, I am seeing a theme developing which makes me wonder if trying to get IR and LED to work together is going to be tough, maybe? The 3449 Pro looks interesting, I assume this is the IPC-T549M-ALED-S3 in which case I might try one of those also. Not sure whether to...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Thanks both for this info, very useful, sorry I should have made it clear I realised the s3 was just latest 5442 variant, better in low light....wow, that sounds good though! the originals I have are impressive to me at least. I will pick up on of the Hikvisions to play with and add at least a...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

OK, you have my attention! - the 5442 bullets I own perform better than the turrets so this figures with the S3. How good are those Hikvisions in comparison to the 5442 and S3?

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

That is very useful thank you, light is purely triggered by PIR's at this point, so really the color cameras would be running under their own steam. I like the idea of having led and IR, may be that I will get some 5442's and a 54Pro to trial also. Are the 8MP variants still a stretch for night...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

I own several older 5442's and am looking to upgrade some older Dahua 2MP models. Mostly these are in areas of zero ambient light, some do have assistance from 4000-5000 lumen PIR floods. Have been scanning the forum today and also picked up on the Color4k and Procolor series, seems like the...

Western Digital 'thumper' disks - PWL

Suggest trying some high density foam, and/or a second layer of fibre. In practical terms, variation on a garden kneeling pad combined with some fibre style feet used on chairs to protect hard wood floors or similar :thumb: - relatively cheap solution, OK, they might not look great but certainly...

Western Digital 'thumper' disks - PWL

The high density foam isolation works exceptionally well, but, the computer case feet are compressing it, thus reducing effectiveness. I will work on a solution where the foam and also possibly a fibre material is sandwiched between two solid wood or composite layers, this should spread the...

Western Digital 'thumper' disks - PWL

Over the years, many drives installed for home and work, I find the better (5 year warrantied) drives always tend to be the noisiest, mostly at least. The purple drives are not bad compared to most, SSD will come down in time but it will be a few years yet for larger capacity.

Western Digital 'thumper' disks - PWL

Thanks and yes, I have used various enterprise grade and surveillance rated drives over the years, once you isolate these thumping style drives they actually become quieter than the normal 'chatter' type drives, it is a low frequency vs high, not always easy to isolate though of course!
