Putting IVS lines over plants is probably asking for trouble, stick to either grass areas or pathways...excuse the rough drawing!

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

This is solid feedback, I plan to run 2 of the 4kt models but they will both be covered by 4000+ lumen floods on PIR, appreciate this kind of information. This for me is the attraction of the 54Pro, it seems like they may have some compromises to run the dual IR and LED but at least can work in...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I guess in these cases maybe having one camera running IR for more distant subjects and another full colour, you get the best of both worlds, more extravagant and less appealing visually but what can you do. I have been running IR only for a long time now, until someone gets closer and...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Thanks for posting more video clips, this is useful for all. Here is my take on the second video, if you would rather not run LED all the time then certainly run in IR mode, switch to LED when IVS triggers as you have it set already, get the shutter speed faster at say 1/160 or 1/200, this will...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

On the one hand too many, on the other not enough. It is a necessity and hobby which got a bit out of hand, no doubt others on here in a similar position. Researching and testing is fun, some of my original 2mp starlight cameras have been up since 2018-19, not a bad service life, I only have 3x...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

This is looking pretty impressive so far, the ambient will be helping though. Once the on camera LED's are running this should look very nice! again, thanks for posting these and taking the time  Quite pleased I have some ZE's coming now, nobody mention the AS :wtf:

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I would drop the shutter to 8 or similar, get the NR below 40 if possible. That is going to require either IR or LED assistance though, almost certainly.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Thanks for the detail, I am a full frame camera guy so understand the theory, still that 8MP is impressive, I will be adding one to my next order along with a 54Pro AS it would seem! kind of annoyed because I almost ordered the two mentioned and a ZE, instead I got three ZE's which was stupid in...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I know!! how is this possible you have to wonder, my 5442's and other 2MP cameras would never manage that, seems bizarre. :wow:

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

@Chokolinho Thank you very much for the effort with these samples, I know the work involved! without much light that image looks pretty impressive. I am guessing you might have some samples coming with IR and also LED's showing video, these will be well received I am quite sure  that...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

That looks pretty impressive, shutter needs pushing a bit more to iron out the motion blur. Are you planning on running the IR's and or LED's on this long term, motion triggered or otherwise? When the scooter flies past it doesn't actually seem to have much motion blur, guessing it could be...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

This is an interesting consideration, not something I have paid enough attention to it would seem, I can see this also plays into the 54Pro series which I know had been mentioned prior to this regarding close focus.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

This is interesting to me, the 4kt in @jmcu excellent videos looks fantastic quality, I guess it would make sense that 8MP sensor will require more light. I have some of the 54Pro cameras arriving and my guess is these will fair better with the onboard only lighting than the 4kt, would that be a...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

The S3 certainly is louder, I would also say clearer, the 54Pro almost sounds more like it has the noise filter on still, kind of muffled/muted to higher or mid range frequencies. I forget which is the best quality now, PCM rings a bell on a couple of mine, it was odd because I remember one of...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Not sure I will get them running side by side for testing but you can be certain of my testing methodology and strict standards! The AS will come later, was so close to getting one on this order...anyway! the 54Pro ZE and S3 will be tested to infinity and beyond no doubt about it, I am working...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes, I will be that guy!! 54Pro AS will be incoming at some point along with a bullet version, I have 2MP starlight PTZ's, 2MP starlight bullets and turrets, 4MP 5442 original in turret and bullet, with 54Pro and 5442 S3 incoming next week. Reasonable line up for me to give feedback, I also take...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

That'll do, I'm already feeling bad enough about not grabbing a fixed focal length   - but yes in theory it should pull in quite a bit more light. Real world tests will tell the story, I suspect the gains will be less than we estimate, a fixed aperture varifocal is not something to...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes, fair comment on those point, f1.0 vs 1.2 isn't end of the world but as a camera guy we always want the faster aperture, also in the camera world away from cctv I will take a prime lens all day long. I did have another theory that with the fixed focal length, if there is variation in the...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Wait...is the AS f1.0? Andy lists it as f1.2 same as the ZE...just checked Dahua site and of course you are correct :wow: damn, I almost added one to my order but instead got ZE's, that is annoying. Ah well, live and learn, always double check the specs! guess I will add one to my next order and...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

You should see some nice improvements afterwards, lots of settings on these new cams by all accounts. With the NR settings, just keep knocking them lower until you start to get minor noise creeping in, similar to some degree with the shutter speed but probably best just set it at 8ms and see how...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I would say that there is never a reason to use above 8-10ms shutter speed, so fair to say for shutter you can generalize that below 6-8ms is a good standard.
  22. C

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

As a general rule I would say never use shutter speed above 6-8ms, there we go, brutal but most likely true! just have to deal with the fall out on exposure and such like  For reference I average about 4-6ms shutter and try to keep gain below 30 during daylight hours if possible, night...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I realise this but was trying to soften the blow  but 15-20ms will be a world apart from 33+ Most of mine run 4-6ms day or night, agreed on the NR, I would take some noise over smearing and blur.
  24. C

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Shutter speed needs to be faster, that is my take on this one anyway, this will darken the scene slightly but should fix the motion blur :thumb: - Image looking pretty good elsewhere though. Maybe try this: Shutter 0 - 15 or at least 0 - 20 Gain 0 - 50 or 0 - 60 to compensate for shutter 3D...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

The more I read on the main thread, the more I'm tempted to cancel the 5442's and switch for these Pro's if not dispatched yet! flexibility of essentially having a security light and IR camera if you want, built in one unit. On a side note, I wonder why they chose warm LED's and not 'daylight'...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Thank you kindly, being lazy I know, normally I am good and research! you got me thinking about the bullets now though  - I mean technically I could replace the turrets with bullets, since they are on the front of the house and approximately 12 feet up the turrets do look slightly less...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Sorry for lack of knowledge but am I right in assuming with the 54Pro series you can leave them in IR mode until someone gets close enough to trigger the LED's using IVS rules, then it switches back to IR afterwards? just working out where to put which camera!

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Now that is just showing off  but also makes me wonder exactly how bad my current 5442's will look in comparison!! Seems like I am a bit behind, still got half of mine running 2MP starlight from the dark ages. Getting there slowly, once the incoming batch get swapped in then most will be...

    Dahua 5442/T54IR vs the rest

Hopefully that is a good sign, the latest video from Andy looks promising to me at least. If the sensor hardware etc is same or close to the 5442 S3 then surely this can be polished with firmware. I guess at some point I will try a Pro bullet when they come in stock, hold on...I just realised...
