So confused on firmware for IPC-COLOR4K-X ?

No doubt about that, even marginally out of focus areas on these still produce great results! If the sharpest part of the image matched that truck on a 2MP or 4MP camera from a few years back, we would probably be very pleased. The sweet spot on this video is crazy sharp, even the properties in...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

You hit the nail right on the head here on both counts. I would add that the magic needs to be dialled down and let the sensor perform in RAW format so to speak. Or at least allow us tweakers full manual without Ai/WDR/HDR/Magic assist.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

This should be interesting  great position and plenty moving targets, I am very intrigued to see your thoughts, especially compared to your other cameras. You appear to have some ambient from street lights so the 54Pro should give some reasonable results.

So confused on firmware for IPC-COLOR4K-X ?

That makes sense, tough call in the 16-20ft range for me I have to say, the 2.8 will be on the wide side but really low light is critical so that requirement should take priority. I am pretty taken with these 4K models, the low light capability combined with resolution is pretty compelling. Went...

Angle is clearer to see now with the skulls! the digital look of these cameras I dislike, hence why I try to disable all processing, which we know seems impossible at this point. Like you say the processing side is not there just yet.

So confused on firmware for IPC-COLOR4K-X ?

Excellent, a camera (DSLR) guy, this inspires confidence, my IP cams need to function in poor light just like my digital camera, at least with the IP cams this is a cheaper game to play! Primes for the big cameras look less appealing to the wallet. Anyway, seems like the 2.8mm is going to win...

Driveway looks to have 'pitting' or small pieces missing in this image, is that representative of how it looks, not seen this effect previously in this image, guessing the WDR/HDR...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes indeed, where I have IR overlap with my 54Pro, similarly, LED overlap with the second one, it helps quite a bit, although once below 0-2ms shutter serious light is required to benefit the image, sadly.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I would go in that range day and night honestly, night is more likely to be beneficial as reduces processing and should be cleaner. Based on your samples you need some sharpening in the day regardless, maybe just 5-10 is enough, would need to trial that.

Looks like some serious processing going on with that image, maybe due to the challenging sunlight conditions? getting a HDR vibe again!

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Do you feel that by 18-20 feet the 3.6mm is beginning to move outside of it's optimum focus window, watching this again and looking at stills, almost seems like it is sharper between 12-15 feet. I am now totally confused whether to go with 2.8 bullet or the 3.6mm, maybe should just get both and...

So confused on firmware for IPC-COLOR4K-X ?

Appreciate the work you put into this demonstration, very useful indeed. I have a couple of the 4K-T cameras which are superb, looking to install another which is approximately 15-17 feet to target. From you samples it seems like the 3.6mm which I was considering has quite a narrow focus window...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes the cracks are visible with 0 sharpening but like you say they pop right out once sharpening is turned up! Really not liking the way this camera deals with setting changes, processing will still happen almost regardless of settings input. For us manual guys who like to tune this is less than...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Interesting, one things seems quite clear, applying any amount of sharpening also adds HDR/WDR of some kind. Detail appears from almost nowhere and and you can clearly see HDR effect, cracks in the road, between paving slabs/concrete on the drive, wow, quite apparent.

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Sounds good, that is still pretty low, these things are all personal preference. Most important thing is that you can get a good freeze frame of the bad guys day or night, that right there is the challenge we all face!

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

That IR looks good, colour one I would turn of NR and sharpness down low as possible or 0, might be a clearer shot with less smearing/high ISO processing... on second inspection it is pretty good, still worth a shot to try and clean it up. Never been big on sharpening or NR, with the new cams I...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes that is too dark really, tough one, I would use smart as suggested above, probably adjust to get brightest IR image you are happy with and just switch on the LED's for IVS. I am running following settings on one of mine in colour at night with LED's on, higher gain than I would like but...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Should say initially that is not at all bad to be honest, no such thing as a perfect image. Suggestions based on my testing... Gain 35 Sharpness below 10 NR below 25 or even 10 if you can live with the 'grain' Shutter 4 or less Now this will of course make for darker image but it should be...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes I tend to agree with that, these new cameras are a mystery in some respects and do not seem to respond entirely as expected. Hence why I suspect there is much going on behind the scenes, this has been echoed by others. So far although they are technically 'low light' cameras in some...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Thanks for posting these, that 0 sharpening does indeed look soft, this is with NR disabled? as you noted and I confirmed setting to 0 NR and leaving it toggled on still processes the image. I now run NR disabled and sharpening 0 during the day on these new cameras, I prefer the raw data and it...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Wow, that is some reply, thank you kindly. I initially thought some of the properties in the background looked softer focus, but that is simply where the camera drops off after hitting optimum focal distance - these things are so damn sharp. Looks like I will be ordering a bullet or two in...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

With the 3.6mm bullet, what is the real world minimum focus distance as a rough guide. I have a distance to target of between 16-20 feet, am hoping the 3.6mm will work well for that. I have a couple of the 2.8mm turrets, the benefit of the close and near LED's on the bullet will be useful for...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Although I agree with this normally, with these 8MP models certainly in daylight, setup with fast shutter, low or disabled NR for excellent quality, I find you can zoom in to 150% maybe even 200% and still get nice results. Yes, there is generally no substitute for correct focal length, but...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Very close call between the two images at night, maybe the 0827 looks a bit sharper on some of the trees and grass, so close though. Would like to see those images with no NR and no sharpening, shutter at 0-8ms, just out of interest. Have you tried a 4K-T out of curiosity, sorry, that is for...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Great write up, I would say very similar findings for mine. Once the darkness falls I have been running one which is also sharing space and LED onboard with a 4K-T, in colour I want it at 0-2ms for freeze frame but it is starting to get a bit dark. The 54Pro running solo with no ambient can...
