    New Shed - Camera Suggestions

I presume the 3449 has both IR and warm white LEDs? Correct me if I am wrong, but it looks like it is set up to switch to color and white light on event trip? I guess it will switch back within a set preset time when no motion is detected? If so, that's a pretty cool feature and well worth the...

    New Shed - Camera Suggestions

They're pretty lenient with setbacks there, aren't they? Here in our town, we have a minimum 10-foot setback from the back of the property line for a utility easement and at least 6 feet off the side of the property line. Wouldn't be so bad, but we have septic and an inground pool which occupies...

    Low-cost label maker

Hi all. I'm looking for a low-cost wire label maker to organize my network cable mess. I can't see spending hundreds of dollars on a DYMO as once it's used to organize my cables it will more than likely sit in a drawer or in a cabinet and forgotten. Any suggestions?

PTZ5A4K-25x Stopped working after being in web interface. How to reconnect

This and many of the larger PTZ cameras can use up to 70 watts of power when everything is in motion. You have to remember that there are 3 motors that run when auto tracking is used, which can consume up to 40 watts by themselves, not to mention the power used by the camera portion itself and...

    Back deck/yard camera - 5442 S3 or 4k-X for no-light conditions?

These nifty adaptors help me justify adding a new camera at a given location as I don't have to wedge my fat-old ass through the trusses in the attic of our home in sweltering heat. My collection just keeps getting bigger - I can't help myself By the way, if anyone is interested, there's an...

    Back deck/yard camera - 5442 S3 or 4k-X for no-light conditions?

In the US, a lot use this adaptor to run 2 cameras on one cable as it's weather resistant and the combiner part can be used in a protected application (junction box, stuffed in an eave, etc.): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08JS45B89?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I don't understand the thought behind a hybrid image sensor(s). The color part of the image will not be useful for detail evidence since the color is way off. And who cares what colors are on the structures in the distance, they are not relevant to what's happening in the foreground. Another...

    The official "WTF" thread

The more I view that clip, the more I think it is artificial movement - AI done in an editing program. You would see subtle physical glitches in movement if it were real. It's way too smooth for the movement to be mechanical in nature. Just look at the soccer robots in China, they regularly...

You got to be freaking kidding me. Politicians will find any way to rob the people they serve. The people of Oregon need to push back on this and tell them no freaking way, or those in government will keep finding ways to bend them over. You'll need a permit to breathe air soon

Will a 54IR or a 22IR camera be sufficient for LPR if I'm mounting on a mailbox?

These serve as a good idea of relation to angles, speed and target size of the plate. As mentioned by many, a good capture will depend on many variables. Best to do a temporary setup for oneself to see what results you can get in your application.

Will a 54IR or a 22IR camera be sufficient for LPR if I'm mounting on a mailbox?

These captures look great as they are stationary, and they have a good angle. To have this good angle, the camera would have to be right at the edge of the road. The angle and speed will determine if you get a readable LP capture. In my case, not enough zoom to make the plate large enough to...

Will a 54IR or a 22IR camera be sufficient for LPR if I'm mounting on a mailbox?

In my case, a lot more distance. The minimum camera I would have to use to have the reasonable angle and zoom as well as enough IR would be the B54IR-Z4E. As I found out, best to try a temporary setup to get an idea before you go through a permanent installation. Even more important is to...

Will a 54IR or a 22IR camera be sufficient for LPR if I'm mounting on a mailbox?

My personal experience, the 5442 FOV wasn't enough to get the plate even being 5 feet off the road. And then there's the light issue. The turret cams can have hotspots in the middle of the image. The bullet cams do much better with IR as there is twice as many and the illumination is more even...

No Attic or Eaves on New Install

I doubt the wire can stay taught through all temps and weather. Once the gutter assembly heats up and expands, it stretches the wire and when it cools and contracts, the wire will be loose. Most people don't or can't maintain their own gutters, especially custom gutters as seen on this dwelling...
