    Why I hate phones...

I also have very few apps on my phone. When Statefarm changed their app to include permissions for camera, contacts, mic and other things that have nothing to with monitoring my driving, I decided not to continue. Especially, since it didn't play well with some of my apps I use for daily...

Not sure about Hikvision, but my Lorex NVR was known to override camera settings, especially time.

    Why I hate phones...

True, nothing is safe and if DDG uses Bing, it might as well be considered a tracking device. Bill's not known to do things out of the goodness of his heart - ABMM (Always Be Making Money)

The Typical picture of a Perp on Nextdoor-type Apps with Consumer Grade Cameras like Ring, Nest, Arlo, Canary, Wyze, etc.

As if the camera itself wasn't bad enough, it looks like a smartphone photo of a monitor. That always gives it that special blurred mood setting Forgot to mention, the useless hybrid green/BW image. I love these types of captures

Best indoor and outdoor cameras from Dahua ?

Ideally, there should be at least 2 cameras at the entrance. One facing from the door out just above it to catch traffic coming into and another facing the door to capture traffic coming out of the store

    NVR Help!

I would guess it may be either an IP address/subnet issue or passwords don't match. I can't think of anything else that would cause all those cameras to go offline

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

And as I found out, low bandwidth can be a factor as well, not saying that's your issue, just that it can affect the image quality by resembling noise

    New Shed - Camera Suggestions

As I mentioned, unless I'm not seeing it, there are no crossties nor joists connecting the tops of the walls that the rafters are nailed to. It means that all the weight of the roof is pushing outward on the side walls, which can cause the walls to bow outward

    New Shed - Camera Suggestions

I'm curious why they didn't use any collar ties to keep the sidewalls from spreading? And typically, joists are run parallel to the rafters, not perpendicularly. Unless I'm missing it, there's nothing to keep the walls from spreading out due to roof and/or wind load. Especially in a Hurricane...

    PTZ5A4M-25X Tracking issues - Dahua SD5A425GA-HNR

There are some serious issues with auto tracking. I hope they are working on a firmware update as auto tracking is one of the main reasons I purchased this camera

Best indoor and outdoor cameras from Dahua ?

Ideally, you would want a camera right outside the entrance pointing towards the door from the canopy to capture traffic coming out of the store. And the cameras viewing the parking, might get better coverage if the views were reversed as in crossing lines of sight

Best indoor and outdoor cameras from Dahua ?

For POS area, from what I'm reading, most installations use a close-up camera directly over the POS for capture of cash exchange and another overview camera to capture a wide shot of the area. Seems a text invertor can be used as well to get real-time register information and be overlayed onto...

Well, I just ordered one from Andy to test out. My plan is to test it in the driveway location on one side to get an idea. If it works out, I'll replace the other side of the driveway. By the way, @IReallyLikePizza2, Andy has them for $152 plus you'll save the tax that Amazon will charge you...

    The official "WTF" thread

I don't do selfies, never have. Seems everyone wants to share their life anymore thanks to social media. I don't think anyone cares about my lifestyle and I don't need to know about others, it's none of my business. I'm at the stage in my life where I don't care.

    The official "WTF" thread

I absolutely despise when they rotate the landscape image to play in portrait mode. It makes the image so damn small. Why? So people can view it in portrait mode on their phones with an even smaller image? I refuse to watch videos made into this idiotic format. This world is fucked

Low-light struggles / improving image quality.

With some systems, like Lorex, they only give the option of H265 and 4096kb with their 8mp cameras. When there is a big change in the image (motion, exposure) it really pixelates and looks terrible. With H264H, there is no pixelization. I believe it's related to how the image is refreshed. I...
