Recommendations for great color indoor cams

A search in here revealed people using the "IPC-K42A" as an indoor, but I have not found much else. WHat is the most oft recommended one for inside to catch family events or god forbid a break in? (Although pretty much since my network equipment is literally at the front door, any thief with...

    2022 EmpireTech Spring Sales

I just went with the 5442. I'll pocket the extra $64 towards a PoE switch or wire. After watching the review and side by side, the 8MP it just wasn't significant enough of an improvement. At least for a nooB like myself, hence why i asked. So i went tried and true "cant go wrong". haha ONce...

    2022 EmpireTech Spring Sales

I am down for this sale but struggling between the 5842 and the 5442: Are they the same form factor (size across)? How many inches across? amazon link does not say. WIldcats review was excellent, but I am not 100% clear - for LOWEST level light i should choose the 5442 correct? TBH the 8 and...

    Camera recommendations please

Hey guys, how does the boobie cam 5441F-AS-E2 show up to the software? As two separate IP addresses? (e..g 2 cameras) or is it processed as 2 images split in the middle under 1 IP? Picture?

Help give me the rundown on feasibility of NAS drives, POE switches, and how and if it can be utilized for security cams

ok thanks! i am waiting for Andys refurb list to pick up come cams (or else buy new). Meanwhile, its good to know i can run it on a NAS. (or attempt). I have a feeling I am about to embark on a much more technical system and will be asking a lot of questions pretty soon! I guess you know...

Help give me the rundown on feasibility of NAS drives, POE switches, and how and if it can be utilized for security cams

Yeah ideally I didn't want to use blue iris because of the setup... I know it's the best but most run it on a dedicated computer which I don't have. I already downloaded it and watched hours of YouTube video and have bem lurking in here for months. It is a steep learning curve. For some...

Help give me the rundown on feasibility of NAS drives, POE switches, and how and if it can be utilized for security cams

I am interested in resolving a non security cam system problem: space, backup, and transferring files all over again when i get a new laptop, and finally having to pay a premium for a laptop with a larger drive. ( Haha i am currently in the need of a new laptop and dread the 1TB transfer again...

I feel like I need to know rocket science to make a decision

This is a perfect example indeed. This is exatly what I mean top shelf ADVICE in here. You are going to get the best gear at the best price and the know how to make it all work. My comment was simply if you do not want to go down the path of feeling like you need to know rocket science and...

I feel like I need to know rocket science to make a decision

Hey man...I was like you and started going down the rabbit hole. The guys in here are super into it, so of course geek out on this stuff. So although it's excellent top shelf advice, you get a tiny slice of feedback. For example they all recommend Blue iris. Yeah....not for me, might not be...

Can i directly connect Tinycam monitor to an IP Cam i will be buying? OR do i need to connect it to an NVR

No way man, just as you said - you get what you pay for. Sure i COULD do that, but now I know too much to be dangerous (to my wallet lol). Once i learned so much in here no way my hard earned money is going to those systems....plus I have similar already (Eufy) and they suck so bad. Going to...

Can i directly connect Tinycam monitor to an IP Cam i will be buying? OR do i need to connect it to an NVR

I didnt pick one yet. Probably the one everyone recommend in here. However i have not decided on a NVR or "system" or software yet. I like the idea of Camect. Looking for reviews on that. Not too many mentions in this forum on it, as everyone seems to like BLue Iris. But that is a non...

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

How do i control this? Do i use the software? It just seems that once i get my camera dialed in i would never use a motor again so seems lind of like a waste, but a varifocal sounds better until i learn what lens i need.

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

Are the varifocal cams all "motorized"? OR, do we use screws to focus them as i saw somewhere? I like the suggestion of the 3241 as it says varifocal, but assume this is not motorized. I do NOT need the added expense of a motor inside it. Also, is the cliff notes up to date? (IP Cam Talk...

    floodlight camera over garage

This is a few steps down the line from where i am now (i am still trying to decide on a camera and PoE switch!) but alas, is also exactly what i need. I would like the flood to be motion based and turn on once a person walks onto my garage deck. Is this another area where there are tecnical...

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

Wow, i certainly came to the right place. I totally didnt understand that was a fraction, i thought it was 2 indicators of entirely different measurements. lol embarrassing. Of course now it makes more sense. Well in my case i was looking for something less than $80. But it sounds like you...

    1/3" CMOS @ 4 MP versus 1/2.7 @ 5 MP - I have questions

I need to buy 2 cameras for basic residential use. I was comparing well recommended cameras, and know the 1/2.7 has a bigger image sensor. (seems counterintuative, but this is accoding to a site I found on actual diameters) SO the first easy question is as a general rule am i to assume the...
