Alrighty - its working - the channel (CH) i changed to 0 & that makes it work!
http://username:[email protected]/cgi-bin/ptz.cgi?action=start&channel=0&code=GotoPreset&arg1=0&arg2=1&arg3=0
Going to have a fun time playing with this!
Thanks guys!!
I have the preset set on the camera itself (presets 1 to 5).
I did try the URL with a 01 & a 1 just in case it wanted two digits. Both times the page answered OK. Just no changing the camera. This is absolutely awesome (well once we get it working right) - this will make it very fun to play...
Thanks! That is great. Only strange thing now is that I get a message saying OK but it is not changing the preset.
Its the right user/pass, right IP. The web page says OK but nothing happens (strange).
Any ideas why it would say OK but not change to the preset?
Nayr - Thats great!
I think that this command might work:
http://192.168.1.2/cgi-bin/ptz.cgi?action=[start]&channel=[1]&code=[GotoPreset]&arg1=[0]& arg2=[1]&arg3=[0]
Would work assuming its the right IP, channel 1 is the right video.
Preset 1 = driveway
So the driveway alarm goes off...
Nayr - Do you think there is a way to trigger the motion on this camera using either email or a home automation sensor?
I have a driveway alarm sensor which is hooked into my alarm panel. I have it sending emails & turning on outside lights based on time of day (with an ISY994 / Insteon)...
Nayr - after owning the camera for 6 or so weeks - do you still love it? I have 3 Dahua 2mp 12x PTZ cameras & think they are great. I am curious how much better the 25x version would be.
Hrmm, is there a way to use a PIR which is a POE type device (sending data to the camera over the network)? For example I have a driveway alarm sensor which is connected to some home automation lighting. When someone drives up the driveway lights go on, emails go out. Can I somehow tie that...
Hi,
I have a ipc-pd42212 PTZ camera. It has two options, tour & scan. The tour looks like it will follow any preset patern (10 seconds per preset) then move on.
What is the scan option?
Thanks,
Rich
Do these cameras phone home to china? Or is it more that if the camera is sitting on a port forward, someone else can gain access easily?
How can you scan the camera traffic to see if its going outside your network?
So I rely heavily on Robert Chou's IPcamviewer software for remote camera viewing. The Sunba 601 does work as an Onvif camera, PTZ works great however the presets dont work at all.
I emailed support, they reached out to Robert Chou & sent him a camera so he could get presets working in their...
Hi,
I was looking at the Hikvision site & saw the DS-2DE3304W-DE PTZ. Looks neat & the price is pretty reasonable for a PTZ. Anyone using it?

Thanks,
Rich
I am really debating getting that Sunba 601 but did look at the Hikvision DS-2DE5184-AE (http://www.hikvision.com/us/Products_1_10561_i8487.html). The pricing is about $325 vs $800 but the Hikvision has a 3 year warranty.
I bought (and am returning) the Reolink RLC-423 PTZ camera - software...
Thank you for sharing your settings. I am curious in terms of the main stream running at 8fps & 8000kps - is that better than the stock 20fps? Just curious why you picked that - it is what I am using now myself. I cant get over how wide this camera is - i just got it mounted outside today -...
Fenderman - is the Hikvision DS-2AE7230TI the PTZ your suggesting? I cant quite tell if its an IP camera, Onvif, etc. Hikvisions site has very little information.

Lulu - unrelated to the shooting - that camera looks amazing. I was looking at getting one from Amazon. How do you like it? Would you buy it again? Are you able to PTZ with some sort of android/apple app?
Very sorry this was so close to your home/family.
Hi,
I bought a Hikvision DS-2CD2342WD-I with a 2.8mm lens. The quality seems decent & at the price point I guess I am happy. I was curious what people think of the camera (during daytime hours)? I like the turret in that the mounting options are wonderful. I am using it with Geovision /...
Steve,
Are you happy with the camera in general? Would you mind posting a photo at regular mode & 100% zoom? I am curious how the image quality looks.
It is the right price point & with amazon prime (easy returns) I am tempted to try it out.
THanks,
Rich
I am a bit torn - I have a Loftek D1 which has been in use for almost 4 years - i cant connect it to my NVR so its a bit useless & I was looking at the REOlink PTZ @ under $300. It claims to be POE as well.
The manufacturer states it will work with my Geovision VMS system also - not sure...
I am on the fence about getting a RLC-423 PTZ - is the OP still happy with the image quality? I see almost no information/reviews on the camera which is scaring me off a bit.
