    Yeah agree, drip loop on its own won't hold up in a proper southerly buster — needs a sealed IP67 box or self-amalgamating tape over the joint to do the job properly. Still a handy tip for the DIY crowd though, costs nothing to chuck in an extra bend as a backup.

    The coaxialControlIO.cgi command seems only play whatever file you've already selected in the web UI — no way to pick a specific file via API. Apparently API v3.24 added this feature, but good luck finding that doc — it's under NDA. Easiest fix: just merge your siren + voice warning into one...

    Some NVR5216 models have a reset button on the motherboard, some don't - you gotta open it to check. If yours has one, hold it for 30 seconds while powering on to factory reset, otherwise you'll need pattern unlock or contact your dealer for a reset code.

    Nah, Dahua's HTTP API doesn't have a webhook or API call to mark/bookmark timeline recordings like Synology does. Your best bet is using the NVR's physical alarm inputs - wire your ESP board outputs to trigger those, which will mark the timeline as alarm events (shows up red in playback).
