    Gremlin UFO in the Camera

That is pretty weird. Seeing it in a main stream (higher resolution than the above) and in night conditions may help us identify it. I doubt it is inside the camera because that would be extremely out of focus but this looks fairly sharp. Also if it was inside the camera it would not be moving.

    Reducing CPU Usage

The only thing I can think of that BI may be doing with all cameras disabled is sending streams through its web sever (e.g. to mobile apps or UI3). Video encoding still takes CPU cycles even if it is all just a bunch of static "no signal" images. Check BI status window, connections tab for...

    Permanent "Holiday" Lights discussion

Nice. I would consider doing it DIY for $5 to $10 per foot, but with as little experience as I have with those things I would probably mess it up. The only holiday lighting I do is: Low-effort Halloween lighting on my porch (only on Halloween and only until we run out of candy) Christmas...

    Permanent "Holiday" Lights discussion

Several of my neighbors started getting them a year or two back. I haven't talked to them about it but I think they all were professionally installed by Trimlight (Permanent LED Holiday Lighting | Trimlight) as I've seen advertisement signs in yards and a branded trailer of theirs seems to live...

    Truckers not clearing height restrictions

I can't back up a commercial semi or large tour bus either and you won't find me trying!

CPU usage after upgrading to BI 6 ?

It is also a good idea to use Task Manager to determine Blue Iris's CPU usage, because Blue Iris may be giving you the wrong number for various reasons.

CPU usage after upgrading to BI 6 ?

The global setting only affects cameras where "Hardware decode" is still set to "Default". Then restarting the BI service is technically optional. The change would also take effect if you manually restart each of the affected cameras. That just gets unwieldy beyond a few cameras.

    Version 6.0.1

Break Time is not in the motion sensor configuration panel, it is out in the main Camera Settings > Motion/Trigger tab.

    Webserver H265 streaming

Yes. Blue Iris 6 added the ability to send H.265 video through its web server via both direct-to-wire and transcoding. Here's (hopefully) everything you might need to know about it: Compatibility As of 2026-01-03, only the web interface UI3 can consume H.265 streams. The Android and iOS...

Setting error alerts in BI 5.4.4.2

It is probably in Blue Iris's status window. Log tab. Down at the bottom there should be a button "Status alerts...". At least that is where it is in BI 6.0.1.8.

    Blue Iris UI3

You should contact Blue Iris support about this. On 2025-12-23, I was notified of an issue where database compact operations (which happen nightly by default) were causing clips and/or alerts to get assigned different "locators"/"identification numbers". This would cause alerts or links sent...

    Blue Iris UI3

That behavior is by design to prevent having a jarring layout shift in your clip list.

    Blue Iris UI3

That sounds like a browser bug honestly. Like it wakes from sleep, gets resized, and then does not fire the correct events to notify the page of the change.

    Version 6

I am managing at least 55 hard drives across several NAS and need to replace 1-2 a year it seems like. That is really not bad considering how many there are.

    BlueIris Buffer Overflow Issue

What is the symptom of this buffer overflow? What happens? I am not familiar with this issue. Can you screenshot the Record tab of an affected camera? And for good measure, a screenshot of the dialog that appears when you click "File format and compression".

    Blue Iris UI3

Yes, it works quite well in my opinion. Below the gamepad bindings you can turn on an experimental mode which can do variable speed control via the analog stick, but I think it only works (and barely works at that) with Dahua PTZs with "Dahua New V4" PTZ mode. Blue Iris never got it working...

    Blue Iris UI3

Go to UI3's Settings in the affected browser and see if it is detecting gamepad activity. You can turn off gamepad controls there if you find it is the culprit. I am not sure what else would do this. You can also open UI3 in an incognito window to temporarily have all default settings. If...

    Blue Iris in a VM.

Great, I'm glad that worked. Be sure to set up email sending capability in Proxmox. That is the only way it has to notify you of disk failures in ZFS other than you manually opening the host shell and typing zpool status. Assuming you use ZFS.

    Blue Iris UI3

It is fully compatible. You do need to copy over the overrides file and any others it may call upon (usually none) into the new www/ui3 folder.
