New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

I figured it out..... I installed "NetTime" (NetTime - Network Time Synchronization Tool (timesynctool.com) The problem was the Windows Time Sync service, while set to "manual" was still running in the background. I stopped and then disabled the service. Immediately the cameras began grabbing...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

This is weird. Either this was a LOT easier to setup than I made it out to be in my head, or I'm just blissfully ignorant at this point - time will tell. Cameras are all running (still!), HDD is getting some space used... so it appears that the recordings are... well, recording. SenseAI is...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Well, my primary goal of getting the cameras up and running on BI is complete (I think). Still don't know, what I don't know..... but I think it's coming along. Have 13 cameras running, recording set to constant/triggered (may adjust to constant/alert once I figure out the difference). Have...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Well, I finally got the NVME for the BI computer; got windows and what-not configured and ready to go. Have a fresh install of BI (v.5) on the system and disabled windows updates for the video card per the wiki. My plan is to either later today or tomorrow, to remove the NVR from my system and...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Currently with my NVR; 13 cameras at 4mp @ .265, I get about 12 days of history with 24/7 recording. I'd like to be able to get 2-3 weeks of recorded data out of the BI system, eventually.

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Well, the computer got here and it works, so that's a plus. Unfortunately it looks like USPS lost my SSD, so that'll slow the project down as I wait on a resolution there. I currently have 2-4TB drives in my 5 year old NVR. Any harm in transferring/reformatting those to this system for use...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

alright - ill go that route Part of this change is a complete re-wire of the office/network. Doing a full ubiquiti deployment/rack mount to upgrade how a few things are handled. The camera system will be on a different network bridged by the PC/NVR. Putting a 2nd NIC in the PC to facilitate...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Appreciate that, ill knock that out - I have some time before the computer gets here, at least. Picked up a 500 gig m2 drive with some good specs for $50 - can't beat that. Need to figure out if im going to run the 2 storage drives as a mirror'd set (protect against failure) or just use the...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

God I wish BI worked on Linux or OSX.... that would really make this a no-brainer. Looking at this little guy: HP i7 8700 32 gig - seems like it would do the job well. Other option is a 9th gen i5 with 16 gig of ram. Thoughts?

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Not sure what the focal length is on the Revo, ill have to dig that up at some point. And it was completely ideal; I've looked at a lot of camera systems over the years (retired LE) - and rarely do you get lucky like that. They parked for about 5 min and were throwing stuff at the son's car.

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

oh, that was well over a year ago - footage is long gone. Was about 50 yards to the vehicle, at night. Fortunately, my neighbors driveway lights provided enough illumination to get what we needed. Really was ideal circumstances for that situation. the IR illumination on these Revo are not...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Damn I love how active this forum is. Being that im going to buy a new (to me) computer for this; Im not too picky on hardware - Id like to keep the system under 1k - not taking into account HDDs Recording 13 4mp cameras 24/7 at main is the primary goal - im okay viewing sub. Id likely use...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Here is where im confused ref sub streams - is BI only recording the sub stream, or is that to make viewing easier? I want to record full quality, but am 100% okay with viewing a reduced resolution "live"

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

BI sounds like the way to go; while I never had an incident (that I'm aware of) on my property - we were able to use my street facing camera to ID a vehicle that vandalized my neighbors property. That was only reactionary tho; with trees swaying, motion detection has been somewhat useless...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

wow, that's a little shocking that the older systems do so well. Was looking at some of the micro PCs and other SFF. Ideally run windows/BI off an SSD and then salvage the 2-4TB HDs out of my NVR (very healthy drives) and put them in the windows box. This would be a 100% headless system (once...

New NVR or should I go Blue Iris?

Was wondering if ya'll could help me make a decision.... Current Setup: -13 Revo 4MP POE Cameras .265 @25fps w/Audio (Well, mix of Revo and Uni) -Revo 16 Port NVR -4TB HD x2 (raid/mirrored) -4K HDMI cable run to living room -VGA cable run to dedicated monitor in office Unfortunately, after...
