LOL @lookee with the Hollywood lighting ... totally the RIGHT answer ... but NOT an option. Here's an IR picture for 'ya ... parameters are now 10 msec shutter (was 5), 100 iris (was 50), and 50 gain (same as before). 0 NR ... so anything not totally black is super noisy. -

Of course middle of the day is not low-light. Here's a snapshot I just took with 5msec shutter, 50 iris, 50 gain, 0 NR. Yes, all you are seeing is the driveway lights and a few others ... THAT is low light! ;-) BTW, it's a clear sky with an almost full moon that is above the horizon, but... -

@bigredfish - If you have some specific settings you want me to do on the T54PRO and 5442-S3 (and tell me day and/or night), I'm happy to do it for 'ya. If you have a fairly wide-angle camera with most stuff at 50' (or more away) with everything being at least 20' away, why not run the iris... -

Having spent waayyy too much time looking at stuff, the T54PRO-ZE can deliver a much better static nighttime color image than the 5442-S3 ... but both do poorly with motion [ADDED TO CLARIFY] IN THIS SCENE since it is so dark ... and I have to use ridiculous parameters to get a decent exposure... -

I put the 5442-S3 back up ... so here's a comparison of it in the lower position versus the T54PRO-ZE which is on top. Basically identical settings - shutter=5msec, iris=100, gain=0, and NR=0/OFF. I do have HLC=1 on the T54PRO because otherwise it unnaturally pushes the blacks. BTW, the... -

A reminder that if you move the 3D & 2D NR levels to ZERO ... but still leave "3D NR" toggle on, NR is still being applied ... which took me by surprise - it's easily "seen" in a low-light scene by toggling it. -

Yea, I think there was a regression with LED light behavior with 1028FW ... and Andy has a 1031FW (which is 10/15 from Dahua) which I think addresses this ... but pretty sure it doesn't include the image improvements ... which I like. LOL a bit confusing ... hopefully there is a roll-up release... -

Would recommend you try the 1022 or 1028 (but not 1031) releases from @EMPIRETECANDY as there are some image processing tweaks I like. Fog is tough ... and in low-light, the processing algorithms are getting totally confused by it so yea, that's a big mess. -

THIS is something I've wondered about. I.e. what matters it the SIZE of the pixels. So if one 1/2.8" sensor has 5MP and another (same size) 1/2.8" sensor has 2MP, then the pixel size of the 2MP sensor is BIGGER and (assuming similar technology/etc.), you'd expect the 2MP to do better (at least... -

I tried the 10/31 (aka 10/15) release and pretty sure that it does NOT include the image improvements as seen in the 10/22 & 10/28 releases - mostly just LED light improvements. I went back to the 10/28 release. -

It's not surprising that the Skull Brothers are out of focus. I wrote earlier that I'm running 100 iris to minimize shutter speed and gain ... and since this is a "scene" shot with the camera at fairly wide-angle with the middle of the driveway being ~50' away, most everything should be... -

It appears to be doing a really good job with a broad dynamic range. You might consider the newer firmware as it seemed to do better with highlights/shadows ... plus I found HLC=1 seemed to make a difference. P.S. You've got some good coverage ... and appreciate the comedy with "guitar-man" ;-) -

It wasn't clear @Sixto what your settings were for the first testing ... so I'm just suggesting you "push" the camera to see if it's even a possible (at full iris and "reasonable" gain) to get up the shutter speed up to a reasonable value to capture motion - probably at least 1/50s. If so... -

So I decided to push my FW0827 camera to 1022 (would have gone directly to 1028 since that is running great ... but this way I can compare those two) ... and took a snapshot just before/after the upgrade ... so while the sun moved a bit, that's about as close of a direct comparison as I can do. -

Looking forward to you review @tmxv4128 I'm guessing you blurred out the street name and license plates(?) ... but does that red fence have vertical slats all the way around, because it looks a bit mushy. Also, looks a bit overexposed in spots (that camper is pretty solid white) ... so maybe...
