Newbie questions regarding camera specs and functions.

First off, is there a thread somewhere for noobs that has a quick explanation of what each spec is or does? I looked through the WIKI and didn’t see anything. I am looking at the EmpireTech PTZ425DB-AT and have a few quick questions. Alarm I/O 2/1. Thinking these low current relays can be used...

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Yup, I was upgrading from a 24 cam AHD system to IP and got suckered in by the half way good person/vehicle detection and alerts. Before I realized the quality issues I had 2 – duo4k, 5 – E1 outdoor 5mp, 3 – 420 5mp, 2 – 510 wa, and 2 – 811A. Uggh Its not a total loss yet, I will probably use...

    Wood-like Enclosure for LPR Camera?

Last for a year or two in my neck of the woods. Important to make good contact as it isnt as flexible at duck tape. I fould more smaller pieces cut to fit gives you good adhesion. I blends in so well I once lost a roll on my bench for ten minutes lol

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Thank you! I knew I was missing something in the matrix, I was wondering why all the high end Hikvision cams seem to be 4mp. Glad I joined up. You only know what you know ;) Thank you.....

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Wow, that triple sight looks great for 2mp. I guess a good quality 2mp sensor is better than a crap 5mp sensor any day. Looks like the onboard AI and triggers are robust as well. My eyes are opening lol Thanks...

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Thanks for the suggestion. The B521 looks interesting. Only 2mp but big lens. Would like to stay with 4mp or more if possible. As for IR, I usually disable IR on cameras and use area illuminators or security lighting where possible. Eliminates spider webs, flying bugs, rain and snow at night...

    Wood-like Enclosure for LPR Camera?

I have used the Duct tape camo tape and it blends in pretty well. The one that looks like the forest background. Play with the location to get the best blending into the enviroment. I have found that close or in the crux of the branch is better than on the more uniform pattern of the trunk or...

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

The objective is to monitor a mailbox with enough detail to identify the vehicle as it stops and drives away. The challenge is the camera is 300’ away from the target area. I have been using a Reolink 811A 4K with 5x zoom but as we know their image quality is not applicable to this type of...

Static IP setup , Camera, router, or both?

I am just starting to investigate BI and starting to understand how hardware intensive it is when AI is utilized. For this use case there will be no remote access needed, for now lol. I have a master spreadsheet as well with all devices, pw's, mac, model, spec, etc. Has saved me a few times...

Static IP setup , Camera, router, or both?

I want to reduce/eliminate issues with my cameras and other devices on my dedicated network especially after a power interuption. Which would be the better option, on the camera, in the router, or both? Basic layout of my network as of now. There is one router going to a managed switch with 6...
