    Mounting T54IR-ZE-S3 to soffit

How about this? https://www.amazon.com/Ethernet-Smolink-Internet-Network-Weatherproof/dp/B089KMHFMF/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=flat%2Bpoe%2Bethernet%2Bcable&s=electronics&sr=1-3&th=1 It's 30 AWG and copper. Edit: nevermind, 30 AWG is too skimpy

    Mounting T54IR-ZE-S3 to soffit

Got it. I assumed they were aluminum. By the way, why not use flat, outdoor-rated ethernet cable and then run it around the soffit instead of cutting a hole...

    Mounting T54IR-ZE-S3 to soffit

Cool. Mine are vinyl so I’m wondering if this method would work as well.

Brick wall; pole mount on downspout vs wall mount on brick

Funny you mention this. I was playing around with the junction box and one of the cameras and realized this may be easier to install with two people given it's like a Russian matryoshka doll :).

    Mounting T54IR-ZE-S3 to soffit

Very interesting idea. If you don't drill, do you use a box cutter to do what you're describing?

    Mounting T54IR-ZE-S3 to soffit

I have five of these cameras I want to be soffit-mounted because then I don't have to drill into the brick wall, this installation makes the camera more inconspicuous, and it seems like it'll protect better from the elements. My plan is to try this method using aluminum sheeting so I don't have...

Brick wall; pole mount on downspout vs wall mount on brick

Thanks for the advice. I actually thought about using only two screws so I can avoid drilling into actual brick. Question...why use the PFA-130 vs the PFB203W to mount to the wall?

Brick wall; pole mount on downspout vs wall mount on brick

Thanks. That's a great point about the mic and vibration of the pole mount.

Update to Latest FW or Don't?

This is insane. I'm glad I read this thread. I just bought seven T54IR-ZE-S3s and I was planning on upgrading them to the latest firmware. Not sure I want to do that now. I'll rely on this forum to determine if any future firmware upgrades are worth the risk.

Brick wall; pole mount on downspout vs wall mount on brick

Hi Y'all, I have seven T54IR-ZE-S3s I'm going to install around the perimeter of the house: five under eaves/soffits and two on walls. For the two locations on walls, they're right next to gutter downspouts. My house is brick veneer so I could either drill into the brick and attach the...

Giving up on PC + Blue Iris- should I try an NVR?

No need to be snippy. From what I've learned, I agree that NVRs are more limited. I was just referring to the weaknesses of Windows running reliably for long periods of time without reboot.

DMSS setup with NVR; connection failed

Oh yea. Access isn’t a problem anymore.

Giving up on PC + Blue Iris- should I try an NVR?

I don’t necessarily agree that a PC running Windows is as reliable as a purpose-built NVR, but I suppose it depends on the NVR.

Giving up on PC + Blue Iris- should I try an NVR?

Im starting out with an NVR and may advance to what you describe. For right now though, I just want something 24-7 and reliable and an NVR seems like a good path for that.

DMSS setup with NVR; connection failed

So when I connect via OpenVPN from my iPhone on cellular to DMSS, it comes up but the live camera feed times out right before it loads. Do you know if there’s a way to adjust the timeout in the event I don’t have a 5G ultra wide connection?

DMSS setup with NVR; connection failed

I have an EmpireTech NVR on my main LAN, which is where my iPhone has WiFi as well. I've blocked the NVR's Internet access. I'm trying to add the NVR to the DMSS mobile app. I scan the NVR's QR code, select "wired" initialization, enter the name of the NVR and password, and I get a Connection...

Help with Camera Choice - 2nd story placement

Makes sense. I'll just stick with ole trusty...plus, with the varifocal lens, I can adjust them to best compliment each other for maximum coverage and focal point.

Help with Camera Choice - 2nd story placement

I saw that one. Looks cool but as you said, no IR and aren't the image sensors too small for 4k? Perhaps higher resolution would be better for a broader, longer range purpose in this case where there's no close range motion? There is a street light way back there and I have a porch light down...
