Hey all,

Did a search on comparison between the two and nothing came up here.
I want to upgrade my 10 year old Hikvision setup.
So looking at these night colour cameras.

As I understand, the ColorVu cameras have a rectangular light source underneath the lens, which stay on in dark all the time ?
Whereas the Smart Hybrid have some sort of motion detection and only switches to colour recording when there is a motion ?

These would be going in a single storey house.

Any real user experiences - positive or negative - with either camera ?

TIA

10 year old Hikvision setup? Have you considered changing everything over to Dahua? Andy offers a comprehensive selection of Dahua cameras - I earn no commission for mentioning his products here
If you want something like Smart Hybrid, check out the T54PRO or IPC-Color4M-TZ

Hey, thanks for replying. I know most of the retailers mentioned on here are in the USA. I am located in Australia, and would prefer to buy locally !
If you want something like Smart Hybrid,

Thats what I am trying to determine - do I want the Smart Hybrid over the ColorVu, and hence asked for any real user personal experiences with either

Andy actually ships to Australia
Message him at @EMPIRETECANDY
He sells the Hikvision variants too but to an extent, its mostly Dahua

I would avoid ColorVu as it omits built-in IR; ColorVu is only good if you have a lot of external light (not IR light) to supplement night-time performance

Smart Hybrid is appropriate for majority of applications if you are deciding to stick with Hikvision

OK, I looked more into it, and Dahua seems to be cheaper, but I am not sure if I am comparing like to like !
Can someone give me a Dahua NVR model which is equivalent to Hikvision DS-7608NI-M2/8P 8ch PoE.
Dahua's own NVR model number only please, if you can ..

Also the equivalent camera model for Hikvision 4K DS-2CD2387G3-LIS2UY/SL/SL 8mp turret cam
Already ordered a Hikvision 2387 to see if they will work with existing NVR (I suppose if the processing happens on camera - why not ?)
But might change to Dahua NVR and cams if monetary savings are achieved !
Thanks all

For NVR, the equivalent would be Dahua NVR5208-8P-EI2 or Empiretech NVR8CH-8P-2AI-S2 and for Camera, Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED or EmpireTech IPC-Color4K-T

You can't interchange brands if you are using Hikvision and Dahua unless you run third-party ONVIF-software security surveillance programs like Blue Iris
