bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I hope they don't have an extended chase of a gas powered vehicle.

I've never seen a police car here in NY that gets shut off when officers arrive at a scene, or anywhere else for that matter... heck, I've seen the cars unoccupied/idling in front of the precinct ... they leave them running all the time for climate control, lights, computers... and worse, Las Vegas in the summer?

I found this interesting...

Ford CEO says a ‘shocking’ discovery after taking apart rival Tesla and Chinese EVs led to a ‘brutal’ business decision

Ford CEO Jim Farley said he was struck by a “shocking” discovery when digging into competitors’ vehicles, and it spurred him into taking action that would help the legacy carmaker compete with the likes of Tesla and Chinese upstarts.

When taking apart competitors’ vehicles, as is standard practice in the automobile industry, Farley said the company found Ford’s Mustang Mach-E had about 1.6 km, or nearly a mile, more wiring than a Tesla Model 3. When it took apart vehicles from its Chinese competitors, the findings were similarly surprising.

To me, that means more things are sent over the network(s), leading to more things that don't work right. I can site one example: In some newer Subarus, the power windows operate via network commands. When the battery runs down or is disconnected, the right passenger window switch doesn't work correctly and the driver has to preform a reset procedure. With a simple switch and wires, this problem wouldn't happen. It's a feature, not a bug, however, because the reset procedure is documented by Subaru.

Hmmm, maybe we do need driverless trains:

I only met one person who had any interest in this EV and he does not even use a truck like a truck is made to be used. Can't even say I have seen one of these on the road, well I was not really looking either though. Take your losses and move on...

Affordable 10k to 20K EV are coming to Canada. Tesla is screwed in North America, declining sales due to no federal EV incentives in US. So it will be game over for Tesla in Canada. If you look at other EV markets where the consumer has a option of Tesla and Chinese EV. Tesla has lost to BYD and other chinese brands in EU, Australia and Asian countries.

Also some of the EV from China has semi solid state batteries immune to Canadian winter and 12 minute charge.

This battery from Finland is a game changer for every application. Assuming it's not vaporware.
5 minute charge, 100000 cycle, extreme weather performance, twice the energy density of current EV or phone/drone battery. No fire, works even with holes in the battery ideal for miltary use. They say it will cost the same as current lithium battery and can be shaped to any shape.

Lots of buzz about this at CES this year. I tried to find out more while there but struck out.

ChatGPT when asked says:

"The short version: Donut Lab (Marko Lehtimäki’s company) has publicly claimed a “breakthrough” solid-state battery — but as of now it’s still an extraordinary claim that hasn’t been independently verified in public".
