Has anyone tried this newly released camera from Ubiquiti and care do a comparison on it versus other models discussed on this forum?

All-weather tamper-resistant 4K PoE+ camera with a Multi-TOPS AI engine, 2.36x optical zoom, and a large 1/1.2" CMOS sensor for exceptional low-light clarity and long-range IR night vision.

At $479.00 for just one camera I'd be afraid to try it because I might like it! Sounds immpressive on paper.

Ok, just to compare G6Pro and S3. :)
Well the IR is better on the S3 for sure. Wonder how both would look with onboard IR turned off and an accessory IR unit used. Maybe the G6 just has inferior IR. But with that said for $479.00 for the G6 the IR better be top notch.

I just edited my message. There is external IR illuminator.

If only Microcenter had it in-stock, I would be happy to make an actual comparison versus reading Reddit comments and watching Ubiquiti - sponsored videos on YouTube

That's a pretty common complaint about their cameras. Hard to find them in stock.

Not impressed.
Where both of these cameras set to default values? Or were there adjustments made?
Something is amiss to be looking THAT bad with a 1/1.2" sensor. Well...not horrible ewww bad but for a $500 camera...bawd.
Why is the gate itself looking so dark on the G6? Why can't even see the deer?

T54IR-ZE-S3 is in manual config mode, trying to make it better than the default :)
For G6 Pro there are not too many configuration parameters, I changed fps and bitrate to 15 and 8192 Mbps to match two other cameras. But that doesnt affect image quaility. For everything else it's really hard to make any serious changes, look, for example, how shutter speed adjustment looks in Protect g6-shutter.jpg

I'm appalled by the fact that Protect does not allow you customize / manually adjust the shutter. This is where we should send feedback to Ubiquiti for a future firmware update - it should not be hard nor harm the camera itself.

$500 is steep versus $200 or so from Andy

I agree, that needs to change before any of us can have full faith in Ubiquiti's offerings
The only two other suppliers of Ubiquiti cameras that I know of in the USA are Microcenter and B&H where I have visited and seen the products in-person
The biggest pro of Ubiquti products in general is that they have pretty good resale value and they don't really reach EOL until 10 years or so.

The IR is something which is subpar in all Ubiquiti's cameras - the only pro is that exposure settings work out of the box for me.
