man, with the electricity demand going up due to AI data centers and EVs I really feel sorry for those in places like Berkley CA and other cities who were forced to go all electric power in their new builds and remodels ..

Electricity just going to go higher unless we accelerate power generation ..

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think rooftop solar is just as big a factor, if not bigger, for rates going up. Regulations vary by state, I use Oregon as an example. A "net zero" house pays nothing except a ~$15 monthly administrative fee. Yet the power company has to provide and maintain the generation and distribution infrastructure to deliver peak demand to that house on a 24x7 instant availability basis. Who is paying for this infrastructure? The other ratepayers, of course, via higher rates. Extrapolating to the max, if every house was net zero, there would have to be the huge infrastructure with nobody at all paying to build and maintain it.

Some other states have begun to limit the damage. In Oregon, solar power pushed to the grid is credited at the retail rate, even though the power company has to transport it to a power consumer at no cost. Some other states have moved to buying the power at their wholesale rate instead. California especially has placed some heavy restrictions on new installations, one of which is requiring a battery to help smooth out the spikes on the grid. In the earlier days, a few houses here and there with rooftop solar didn't make much impact on the grid. Now, every new installation just makes the problem worse.

Thanks to Dem states like California, those gas prices above are skewed...

I remember paying .99 cents back in 2000, now I just paid $2.29 yesterday, 25 years later. The US has Zero complaining about our gas prices compared to other Western countries.

I think Diesel is what we should keep an eye on since alot of goods travel/are shipped that way. It is cheaper to make diesel, I have been told, yet the prices are still too high...

So is California better now that prices are coming down?

Prices are coming down because there is less demand for oil. Been coming down sharply since 2022.

If it doesn’t matter why does Trump keep talking about it?

And how much gas consumption does your small town do in a year?

Spot prices in various small population centers have nothing to do with the National average

You can probably say eggs are free because your neighbor gives them away, doesn’t effect the national metric

Our small town is 20 cents higher than the big city I actually paid Too Much compared to Houston:

Ok you win.

You know the avg price is for all grades combined?

Golden Age Baby!
Win? Haha, what did I win? lol

Did not know my post are being policed... ;)

Just sharing facts, not a bunch of numbers...;) hahaha...guess I live in a bubble or under a rock...lol

I have never bought gas in our small town, BTW. We still shop in the big cities, our town only has Family Dollar, which the wife calls our Mall, hahaha...

So I went to get that Rib Roast and they told me I didn';t have enough money :idk:

SO I showed them this and did the math:
Savings vs last year $0.21 per gallon
X 32 gallons for the month
= $6.72

The Rib Roast (5lb) apparently costs $121.23 :(
