Getting the hang of it

I have a few IPC-Color4M-T cameras, they turn on the warm light automatically when a person shows up. That's great. I am getting ready to replace some other cameras and saw a very similar IPC-T54PRO-AS. Seem to have stronger warm light maybe, but I don't know if the rest works the same as the Color4M. Dows anyone know the difference, i.e., picture quality, features, etc.?

Thanks.

I would continue to use the 4m and review the situation in 1-2 months.

Hold off for now

Making progress. Haven't really put together a good test video yet but here's some messing around shots

0-5 exposure. (not quite fast enough yet. would like to get to 0-3)
DNR 30
Set Day/Night to Auto
Smart Illumination Auto - turned off the Overexposure comp as its a mess

My motion flood comes on while I'm 45ft out at the corner of the house.
Odd that even in Auto, it wont switch to color until Smart illum kicks in its onboard LED's. Thats something I'm not a fan of.

BTW- having a sale on that fancy spider web remover tool. $29.95 plus shipping ;):rofl:

@bigredfish , thanks for the tests. What's the verdict so far, does the new pro color series work as well as the color4m? I am thinking particularly the speed it turns the smart illumination on. Can't understand well from you video because you have other motion lights that are helping it. My situation will be the camera on its own.

It does turn on the white LEDs using IVS rules for people.
The FW version I have 10/28 quit doing so for animals.

The new FW version hopefully out soon that allows you to turn off AI-ISP helps but it still has a ways to go on image quality

I wouldn’t recommend buying it over the 4M until they rework the camera sometime after the 1st of the year.

There's a lot more testing in this thread.

The LED's come on by themselves for humans if set to do so.

The one exception in the line which Im running at my backdoor currently is the fixed lens AS model
It works there because its a tight small space. I'm going to apply the new test FW to it in the next day or so

IVS rules fail to activate white LEDs on critters. This may be a FW version issue. The original 7/31 FW did

I'll do a quick sample tonight and post it here to show how the 54PRO fixed lens does on its own with no other lights

Very helpful, thanks.

Notice in the two videos above, the 1st, the coons dont trip my flood. But there is still IR coming from another camera.
In the 2nd video, the possum trips the flood and there is enough light to give a good image in IR.
Unfortunately even though they trip the 54PRO IVS, it doesnt activate the white LEDs? Dont know why at this point

Here I show the 54PRO AS all alone. My floods are unplugged, my little Mr Beams is removed, the other camera is shut off, and the Gatorcam is shut off.
All light is from the 54PRO

Human trips the IVS and associated white LED's as intended.
Notice how after about 10-15ft you get the digital fuzzies bad because there just isnt enough light.
It takes FAR more light than most people thunk to run good color at night past about 15-20ft
Its not an awesome image, hopefully FW improvements and rework in 2026 will help it.
Dock is 30ft
